2015-2016 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bothers me that a 17 point lead against golden state just doesn't seem like much.

No they didn't. They didn't play "seven seconds or less." It's a totally different offense this year.

They had the fastest pace in the league last year. I do not know what you're talking about...

This game is almost unbearable to watch. It's like they're trying to keep them in the game with a lot of these calls. That Klay foul where he caused contact? Come on.

In the playoffs the Warriors had the eighth fastest pace. So when you check what I originally wrote (copied and pasted for your convenience), you will understand my point.

EDIT: Also, Warriors are averaging almost one full "Pace point" per 48 minutes this season than last. That is not a negligible number, either. This is a strategy that works wonders during the regular season but not come playoffs, just ask the Suns.
This is why the "seven seconds or less" offense is so beatable. Force the team into low-efficiency shots and it's game over. Let's hope the Clippers can keep it up.
No way the Warriors play this style come playoff time, or even when Kerr comes back, it's a terrible bet against good, prepared teams.

Lmaooo. Like that? Didn't touch the line, but it's out? Unbearable. The Warriors are the darlings of the NBA.

Its true though... this Warriors team is just a slightly more talented version of Mike D’antoni’s Phoenix Suns teams of the mid-’00s.

And those that are saying “they won a title with it last year”, keep in mind they went three straight playoff series last year facing injured/missing starting PGs. That kind of absurd luck of avoiding quality competition isn’t something that can be counted on.

You said "they didn't play 7 seconds or less" and then "it's a totally different offense this year."

It seems fairly clear you weren't just referring to how they played in the playoffs.
It seems I edited too late. So I'll add this here. Warriors are averaging almost one full "Pace point" per 48 minutes more this season than last. That is not a negligible number, either. This is a strategy that works wonders during the regular season but not come playoffs, just ask the Suns.

Moreover, moving past statistics, if you watch the GS offense during any point last season compared with this season the difference is obvious. This year the Warriors are relying primarily on Steph, and secondarily on quick shots off of Draymond's screens. Bogut plays a totally different role this year, which speeds up their offense, while also speeding up their defense.

There like the Suns if they didnt get cheap and lose Joe Johnson

Christ they would have run out amare marion johnson nash with Diaw and Barbaso. Dont think a prime Duncan could have stopped them

I dont think this GS team would have beat that Spurs team either Duncan is such a damn good defender and they would have thrown young versions of Parker Manu and Bowen.

I agree. The teams are a bit different. I think Nash will go down as one of, if not the best distributor in contemporary NBA history. The Suns also played in an age of dominant big men, requiring guys like Amare Stoudamire, Boris Diaw, and Antonio McDyess to defend.

One huge difference, which gets to your point about Warriors being more talented, is that the Warriors are excellent at exploiting bigs off the PnR. During 2004-05 the Suns began to do that, but lacked the explosion from three that the current Warriors have. Warriors won't play this way come playoffs, though. So we'll see what happens when the change takes place.

Blake is smooth now. If the Clips don't pull a Clips this year they could be a threat.

A lot is reliant on Paul Pierce. He has historically been great at focusing a few headcases come playoff time. The big challenge, for him, is the Clippers have more than a few.

That is what they lacked last year was that one vet winner with a killer instinct. Garnett is working his young guys out in Minny two. We may have hated them when were against them but those guys are true gamers.
