2015 MLB Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Fourth round the Indians take another infielder, Tyler Krieger from Clemson.

Switch hitter, another kid coming off labrum surgery that may or may not have a definite position right now. Kid can really hit, though.

As a fellow Krieger, this is my favorite pick of the draft!

Question. Do we have any prospects up and coming who would be what you call pure power, rockum-sockum HR hitters? It seems like forever since we had a decent long ball guy.

Bobby Bradley

Currently in Low A, struggling a bit with contact. Boy can mash, 1B only prospect but his defense can be adequate.

Nelson Rodriguez

Currently in High A, 16 doubles and 8 HR already this season. Big time right handed power, hits balls really really far.

Needs to put it all together from a plate discipline perspective.

Hillman already announced he's signing with the Indians next week....

FWIW, his legal guardian is Tom "Flash" Gordon.

So the Tribes 12th founder, Ryan Perez, pitches both right handed and left handed:

Upon hearing the news, Francona said he might get an immediate call-up. Doesn't even care if he gets anyone out, he'll use him.
Curious to see how he does, in college he would throw left handed to start then switch to right handed to close. Probably ends up in the pen. Seems to me going one arm at a time would make him more usable but that depends on how well he gets hitters out from each side. Throws a little harder left handed than right handed.

Aiken was the best pick the franchise has ever made in terms of drafting talent. if he lives up to the hype is TBD, but i remember hearing he was going to be a top 15 in baseball prospect the very moment he signed, People love to compare him to Kershaw for a reason. McKenzie also should be a flame thrower, wouldnt be surprised if he gets his FB up to 96-100 MPH and he has a curve with a massive break that sits 68-72 MPH, even if he gets that up to 74-76 he's going to K alot of guys with those 2 pitches, way too much change in velocity and eye movement.

it wouldn't be out of the question to see Aiken make the rotation next year at 20 years old if he is healthy. and thats not rushing him, he's just that good.

Well, yes it would.

Because he's not going to pitch until the beginning of next year.

He'll head to Low-A, or short season.

Your likely ETA here is probably 2018 at the earliest.

Doubt it. Thought he tore it at the end of the last year or he was having issues which is why Houston dropped their offer, however He's all but guarenteed to be in the rotation when he's fully healthy. He wont see a full season of Minor league ball.

He had surgery March 25th.

Won't pitch this year, won't be rushed by the organization in 2016. Certainly on an innings limitation and will be shut down at some point anyway.

I think he can wind up in High-A by the end of the season, provided there are no further set-backs from what is rumored to be a not-so-ordinary Tommy John procedure.
