2015 NBA All-Star Weekend Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Kobe keeps getting voted in a starter because of China and Europe most likely.

But Idk whats worse. Harden not being voted in a starter or Andy Dalton making the pro bowl

I can't really see how you put Korver in the all star game, even as a reserve. I know ATL has been ballin', but he's still only averaging 13 points, albeit on 51% shooting and 53 from down town. still though, those are not all star numbers those are incredibly efficient role player numbers. I would not have Korver in the game at all.
and this is why asg appearances should be taken with a grain of salt. they often just reward marquee names or flashy players; not guys who are elite at what they do and have a massive impact on the composition and success of their respective team.

korver is having the best shooting year of all time, is critical to his teams' success, and that team isn't just running away in the east they are #2 in the entire damn league. not putting him in would be nothing short of a fucking joke.

the hawks should have at least 3 all-stars, if not 4. fan voting makes it a little more difficult for the right guys to get in, but they should still have 4.

If you're building a team of players this year to dominate, Korver is in your starting 5. He dominates the game because he alters a team's game plan without ever having to do anything. He's sort of like the offensive version of an elite shot blocker.

If I can start any 5 NBA players together, I use Korver because there's no ego and he doesn't need to dribble the ball to be effective. How that guy isn't an 'all-star' is more of a criticism of what the label really entails than anything.

Kobe out for the year. I'd imagine Harden would have to get the start.

Kobe out for the year. I'd imagine Harden would have to get the start.

Given Harden's comments about the Warriors and the fact that Kerr is coaching the team, I'd laugh if he gave the spot to someone else. Harden should have had it to begin with, though.

So Barkley said Chris Paul doesn't deserve to make the team, and you know what, I don't find it all that crazy. Look at Colin's list and then add Harden to it and imagine Kobe didn't just suffer a season ending injury. Who do you take out to make room for Harden? I'm not taking out Klay Thompson or Westbrook. So it's either Paul or Lillard....

While he may be a role player, he's having the single GREATEST shooting season any player has ever had. Ever. In NBA history. 52/53.5/92. He's shooting 53.5% on 6 threes a game. If a guy is having an historic season, to me, that trumps his role player status.
I saw the other day that based on Kyle Korver's 3PT% by itself, he would be 14th in the NBA in FG%, behind only Kevin Durant and 13 big men.

FOH if that's not All Star worthy.

Dunk contest participants this year:

- Greek Freak
- Zach LaVine
- Victor Oladipo
- Mason Plumlee

*Going back to regular scoring system!*

Three Point Contest participants:

- Splash Bros.
- Kyle Korver
- J.J. Redick
- Wesley Matthews

Mason Plumlee sure doesn't scream "dunk contest" to me. Lavine has that in the bag.

LaVine will entertain. Apart from him the others in that competition don't excite me...at all.

3 Point Competition should be as close as it's ever been though.

I like Oladipo to win the dunk contest. I think a lot of the Dion vs. 'Dipo argument and our desire to find flaws in his game (myself totally included) is clouding our views of him as an athlete.

Oladipo is physically damn near a prime Dwyane Wade. He's an absolute specimen just like LaVine is. What I think Oladipo has, dating back to his days at Indiana, is that competitive spirit that he's planning not to enter and enjoy this thing, but to win it. He's going to be entertaining as well.

Plumlee made me roll my eyes. Hopefully Giannis can have some power to go with his ability to look like he's gliding at everything he does.

At least the NBA is figuring out that young, hyped players full of 'potential' are exactly the kind of guys we want in the dunk contest if the true superstars aren't going to do it.

The 3 point contest is a can't-miss event this year for me.

Wiggins and McDaniels disappoint me.

Why are there only four guys in the dunk and three point contests this year? Aren't there usually at least six?

Also, Mason Plumlee? Really? GTFOH with that, NBA.
