2015 NBA All-Star Weekend Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wouldn't count out the Greek Freak....

Honestly Giannis, Dipo, and LaVine all have a chance if you think about it. Should be pretty nice, but I'm really looking forward to the three point shootout with the Splash Bros. and Korver. Could be one of the best of all time.

Worst dunk contest lineup in years. I wish the NBA's best would actually compete in the dunk contest these days. Now it's just a mix bag of new players and the occasional star.

Curious as to what goes on behind the scenes when picking these contestants and formats? It nearly changes every year. Surely there isn't an NBA executive thinking that this lineup will attract the most eyeballs.

I can understand certain stars not wanting to participate due to ego, but Mason Plumlee?! Seriously?! :conf (5):

Dunk contest is trash. This is probably the best field of participants, but that event ended with Vince Carter.

Three Point Shootout is the premier event now. That's what I'm most excited about. Klay vs Steph!!!!! Wish Kyrie had won last year so that he could be back in it again. Those three going head to head is amazing. Oh, and Korver too! Man...

How did DeMarcus Cousins not make it??

Fucking this. Fans are stupid. Certain players went in without being the player an All-Star should be. But I guess what "All-Star" really meant was marketability. Not the performance.

Was decided by the coaches...

It's an allstar game, I think they should choose who would make the most entertaining game.

Im surprised noone was mentioning Nikola Vucevic. I think hes around 18 ppg and 11 or 12 rpg

Enough with this nonesense. Players who deserve to be in the game loose money when fans fuck it up. This isnt entertainment for them money is literally taken off the table from them because if this.

How they helm is cousins not in the game this kings are 4-10 withou him. Cousins is the 1st player with his number to not make the playoffs but paul/Duncan make it sickening.

CP3 & Duncan over Lillard & Cousins is terrible.

Wade in is terrible.

Fine with the rest. Who will take Kobe's spot on the roster?

Somebody has to take Wade's spot as well. He is hurt.

except the coaches pick the reserves, and cousins didn't deserve to start over gasol/brow in the first place soooo....

but yes the asg always has and always will be about marketability and entertainment. lots of deserving players end up left out, but that's just the sad reality of the system. the disappointing aspect is that asg appearances are considered an accolade; they shouldn't be because the most-deserving guys aren't always making it and being marketable or entertaining to fans doesn't really make a players career any more impressive overall.

not surprising when his team is terrible and plays in the inferior conference.

LOL.

cp3 is the best pg in the west. probably the league, for that matter.

Told you Brandon Knight wouldn't make it....

Happy that KLove can get 9 days rest. He needs it.

The Kings are 8-18 with him. Not that much of a difference. In a similar thought process, the Cavs are 2-8 with Kyrie as the main player. Does that mean he doesn't deserve to be an All Star? And like I said, the coaches decide the reserves. The fans decide the starters, and aside from Kobe being selected, I agree with all the picks. And I'm guessing Cousins not making the playoffs (pretty much guaranteed) is the reason why he's not making the team. I really don't understand what you're trying to prove.

I, as a fan, honestly give zero shits about the money that they lose. Kyrie lost $7 million. Big whoop. He just signed a max contract. He'll live. I'd have loved to see him as a starter, but because I would enjoy watching him play not because he'd get a payday. That's an asinine way to think about it. I want to watch the most entertaining possible game, not give someone a payday. The All Star weekend is one of the most pointless things in every sport. It's not necessary. It's a fun weekend in which fans of players get to wet themselves because you get to see guys who would never otherwise be on the same team, play together. They shoot, pass off the backboard and dunk a lot. It's a break for the other guys.

Guys got screwed, guys who shouldn't have made the teams made the teams. If they make it interesting, I'll be happy.
