2015 NBA Offseason Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
George Karl is nuts. Makes you appreciate a coach that will build around the talent on the roster rather than implement a system. On the other hand, I bet Vivek Ranadive is regretting his decision to fire Mike Malone.

Something interesting I noticed...depending on how desperate they are to clear cap room, maybe we offer them Haywood and our first for Rudy Gay. Obviously wouldn't be enough but it could get them to shed major salary.

Cousins is young and good. Those are the guys you don't trade when you're trying to build a team.

You trade him for #2 and what, hope the draft a guy as good as Cousins, but probably not.

Ownership wants to keep Cousins and I think the GM wants to as well.

Coach wants him out. Another rift between coach and ownership for the Kings like with Malone?

Just another reminder that with as fucked our muddy mess with LeBron and management seems at times, we at least aren't Sacramento.

Watch Griffin turn the Haywood contract, Mike Miller, and a few picks into Boogie Cousins. :chuckle:

Thank god we're not Kings fans. Poor bastards.

So let me get this straight:

The Kings want to trade Cousins, because it makes no sense
The Kings want to trade Rudy Gay to dump salary

And they want to do this in order to sign RONDO?

If I was a Kings fan I'd quit

Sorry @RealKingsFan

Yeah, everything that came out of that article was brutal. Why would you want to trade your best player if you are trying to win games now as a coach? Why in God's name would you think that Rondo is the answer to anything? I mean, I guess if you want to structure a deal like we did with Bynum just so you can see what he can do, but other than that it's incredibly stupid.

Kings fans in the majority want to keep Cousins.
Kings fans in the majority want to can Karl to the curb and eat the money and hire a 4th coach in 1 year. (Malone firing in December already started this chain reaction.)

It is possible Dan Fegan is trying...more like succeeding...in starting his own Dwightmare Part 2 with Cousins. Who else besides Karl comes out with this story and ends up with more to gain from it? Think of how much Cousins has been out of the spotlight because of being in such a small market. Perfect hero in Cousins, perfect villain in Karl. Karl and Fegan we already at odds when Karl got hired thus why the rumors of Cousins not liking Karl surfaced.

Of course the most obvious explaination is George Karl is an old coot who doesn't know this league and how dominate a 24 and 12 Center can be, the best big man he ever coached was Shawn Kemp. I don't know if you Cavs fans rate Cousins as a top 10, top 20, top 25 or even a Top 50 Player in the league right now. Whatever the case, you do know that he's a damn good player.

And don't worry about me, I'm as loyal as they come, even if Cousins is shipped to the Lakers or some other team, I'll still root for the Kings and pray for that lightning in the bottle that we used to have from 1998-2004. I can always keep my hope. Loyalty as a fan is the only constant in this league, and its completely up to you to keep it up.

For what its worth, Vlade Divac does not want to trade Demarcus Cousins. That is my only saving grace at the moment.

RealKingsFan, I checked Tom Ziller's twitter feed this morning and he was clearly irked/angry/just sad like you seem to be. Vivek has no one to blame but himself for firing Malone and hiring Karl. Seems he regrets it now. If it comes to trading Cousins or keeping Karl what do you think happens, considering Vivek could essentially help mend a past error?

Vivek did seem to be making amends for his colossal error. He actually seemed to be saying the right things recently as well saying he was deferring to Vlade as far as trades and management went. He sounded like he didn't want to be as involved as he was last year in the embarrassing draft video.

As for your question...

My heart of hearts says Vivek keeps Cousins and tell Karl to hit the road and take his money away. However it may not just be as easy as that. Money talks and Karl is in a large contract already thanks to his bargaining. He locked himself in for 3 more years and makes him near unfireable unless Vivek wants to eat a large check and has the balls to do it.

However, my logical brain says Cousins is gone.

I'm not in denial, I just know it won't be pretty. I do hope Vivek chooses Cousins over Karl, but his track record is less than spectacular when it comes to making management moves.
