2015 NFL Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Clearly, the Browns are incapable of drafting the right guy.

Need to get lucky with a top pick, that is the only chance. I've given up on anything else.

Easily the most whiny fan base in sports.

No my plan is put a team together that is good enough to make the playoffs by winning 10 games or more. I dont lose on purpose when I have young talent entering their prime. Great Qb's do not grow on trees. If there was one at 12 to take this year, I would gladly run up to the podium. There is not one, so I take the best Available player that can develop into a core player for many years to come. I know we need a QB of the future, but you can't just lose all your games and secure that guy in the draft. That is not the way it works. Some years there are no top QB prospects in the entire draft, sometimes there are 4 guys work taking in the first. It is much more complicated then going 2-14 and assuming your savior will be waiting for you.
You aren't making the playoffs without an above average QB. That is the first step.

Nothing happens until that happens.

As it should be. You know what the results have been. Browns fans should not accept incompetence.

Right, they should accept false hope based on draft position.

It's a better chance than anything else.
Oh yeah silly me I like what the Packers have done which is draft and develop solid NFL talent at all positions. By the way FAVRE and Rodgers were not drafted in the top 3 5 or even top 10. But yeah lets go 0-16 in a year where there is no clear cut top QB pospect and hope for the best. Make sure you find away to keep players who we already have that are talented from playing well enough to win games every Sunday. tell your offensive coaches to have poor game plans as well. This is plan keeps sounding better and better doesn't it?

I'm past this fantasy world where the Browns actually take the right QB outside the top few prospects.

Getting away from the whiny ramblings and indefensible logic, I'm going to throw out a list of players I think the Browns will/should be in on as we kick off the off-season talk:

QB - Bryce Petty
WR - Amari Cooper
WR - Kevin White
WR - Dorial Green-Beckham
OLB - Shane Ray
OLB - Randy Gregory
OLB - Dante Fowler
DT - Danny Shelton
DT - Malcolm Brown
DE - Mario Edwards
DL - Eddie Goldman

Guys I have little/no interest in:

QB - Jameis Winston
QB - Dak Prescott
WR - Devante Parker
WR/TE - Devin Funchess
S - Landon Collins
ILB - Bernardrick McKinney
OLB - Vic Beasley
OLB - Shawn Oakman

Well I am living in reality where you are successful not based on where you draft but how well you draft. You scout the right players then draft them and develop them into the right system. You find the right spot and time to grab your QB like the Ravens and Steelers, you dont manufacture a horrible season on purpose, and pray there is a QB to take.

Why so down on parker?

Intrigued on why you have no interest in Funchess/McKinney. Is it style of play given potential place needed to be picked?

Funchess is a classic tweener for me.

He's not fast enough to be a wide receiver, but he's not big enough or skilled enough to be a blocker.

You can use him for a small number of snaps as a slot weapon and I think he'll be great in the redzone, but he doesn't provide the all-around game you'd like from his projected mid-first round grade.

McKinney is a big dude and he's been productive, but I don't think he's that quick laterally and he plays pretty upright at times.

A guy as tall as him will have trouble staying low and shedding blockers in the run game, coupled with his lack of lateral quicks and I just think he's a poor fit for Pettine's defense.

Oh, I completely agree. I'm living in reality as well.

I'll end this by saying I do not want the Browns to have to tank to get a good QB. I'd love it if they actually drafted someone like Russell Wilson (a guy I badly wanted the Browns to take). Maybe they'll find that guy in this draft. As you know, I have my doubts.

Why so down on parker?

I don't dislike him, I think he's got really good hands (though sometimes inconsistent) and enough quicks.

I just like the other three guys I mentioned so much more. Not sure he's got the ceiling worthy of where I think he'll be picked.

What do you think about Garrett Grayson? He seems to be the only other name I've seen besides Petty that could be had without a top 3 pick.
