Man, is Kipnis great this year or what.

Wow. Lindor really scuffling. Golden opportunity wasted there.

Impressed with Andersons efficiency through two starts so far.

Terry and his bunts. Let me give this struggling pitcher a free out while simultaneously taking the bat out of Kip's hands. Brilliant move, skip.

You really think that the Rays would have rather faced the guy leading the AL in avg vs the rookie? I think Kipnis would have been walked regardless. The Rays struggle to score runs as much as the Tribe.

Walking Kipnis without first base open? I doubt it. But sacrificing made it a no doubter.

Players who got message from rousing team meeting:
Michael Brantley
Jason Kipnis
Yan Gomes

Players who sort of got it:
Geovanny Urshela
Carlos Santana

Players who didn't and need to be cut-demoted-traded-flayed:
Michael Bourn
Francisco Lindor
Brandon Moss

Undecided:
David Murphy
Cody Anderson

So shorn 2-0, with an offense offense struggling, Cash would face the Tribes best hitter with a RISP instead of the rookie SS with a 550 OPS? I think you pitch around Kipnis regardless.

Do I think they walk Kip intentionally if 1st base isn't open? No. I don't.

Do they pitch very carefully? Yes.

Giving up the free out is also part of the equation. Bourn has some wheels. You aren't all that concerned with the DP. Sacrificing gives away an out AND guarantees Kip has zero shot at doing damage.

Cody, Cody, Cody!!!

I bunt Bourn there 10/10 times, the way he has been swinging the bat. Dude can't even put the ball in play, so move the runners over, and have faith in your players that the worst case scenario doesn't happen (which happened).

And I'm with mac...even if Bourn swings away, and with the high chances that he K's, the Rays would pitch around Kipnis. They might not have intentionally walked him, but they wouldn't have given him a pitch to hit, and you're in the same position, 1 out, bases loaded for Lindor.

If you want to blame someone, blame Lindor. Pitcher on the ropes, 1-0 count, and he chopped into a double play.

So......yeah.

But what really get me more excited than that is just 70 pitches in 6 innings.

That 10 pitch at-bat might cost him in the end though.
