2015 Series #41 -|- Indians vs. Brewers -|- August 25th and 26th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Right when we need it the least.
At least Brantley has performed at a high level all season long. Santana, Chisenhall, and Ramirez all took the first 6-12 weeks of the season off.

Means little if the guys below them do not produce better and if ownership/FO doesn't add at least one true middle of the order bat that can hit for power AND not hit below .250-.260

We COULD have a very nice next three years IF some necessary steps are taken and if 2/3 of the batting order doesn't slump from April-July like the past two years.

And that tweet implies I don't think they need that? All I was doing was responding to someone being happy about the top 3 of our order and how them and our top 3 pitchers are locked up for quite some time...

And I'm going to go on a shooting spree if I see another person act like batting average is still that important in the MLB today...

So 3 more seasons of mediocrity? I kid, I kid

Texas loses. Still in the hunt!

Sorry man, I was just commenting on the general state of things. It's an a great 1-3 to the order and a great top 3 pictures. We're going to need more than that to seriously contend next year(not just chase the tail of the wild card from 5-8 games back). Nothing nore, nothing less. I'll still be a fan, I'll still pay attention to the games.

And as far as Santana. Is he a bum? Of course not. But the the guy should be our 6th or 7th hitter. He has proven over the past few years the he can not handle the burden of being the backbone of an order from the 3-4-5 spot. Doesn't make him bad, doesn't mean I don't value what he does.

I wasn't even talking about Santana....just in general....all batting average is good for in today's MLB is for casual fans who aren't into modern baseball statistics to see it on their TVs or in the stadiums and say, "Oh, this person is hitting .300, they must be really good and helping the team a lot", or "this person is hitting .225, he should be sent down, he's hurting the team", when in reality it goes a lot deeper then that.

And I say that because, on the highly likely chance that we do in fact do this, and trade or sign a guy with a batting average below your wanted .250-.260 mark, people in here are going to complain about one of the most pointless areas of need in the game today.

And I agree with you on Santana, I've said as much that he shouldn't be a #4 hitter because it doesn't fit what he has evolved into as a hitter. It requires you to consistently drive in runs, not consistently work counts and get on base a lot by walks while hitting the occasional xbh...but I think he should be our #2 hitter, with Lindor leading off, but that's another conversation for another time...guy has been hitting out of position for a few years now, and it all stems back to our inability to find someone who can stick at the #4 spot...thought it could be Swisher, thought it could be Moss...those didn't work out for us. But reading this board you'd think Santana was a huge detriment to this team, and was giving us negative production (which isn't even close to being true)...that's the part that bothers me, that people can't even realize that he is hitting in a spot that doesn't suit his skillset, and that people can't see the value in his current skillset. Instead they just site his batting average, when baseball is so much more than that.

Well, 5.5 games back now....

This seems like the point they get stuck at and can't move any closer.

That's because there are like 10 teams ahead of them.

5.5 is a few miles when you're behind so many teams. Not all of them will play poorly going forward, so unless the Indians are in a position to reel off 21 of 25 like the Cubs just did...you can probably stop paying attention.

Or posting.

It'd take divine intervention to get us into that second wild card slot, and since we're Cleveland and our second best starter is out for two weeks, it's not happening.

We'd just lose 4-0 anyways.

Indians fever. Be a believer.
