I hear Jordan Poyer is good for the tank.

@MoGottiFor3 , you should tweet him and tell him to keep up the good tank job.

Some people are saying this Lynch kid has Tom Brady potential... I never watched him play so can anyone confirm this?
I've watched him twice and came back slightly impressed. Rather have Goff, but what good is a qb when everyone else sucks around him.

Yeah... That is the the thing. So many issues that getting what could be on another team would work. Lynch after watching video and that of Goff. If we had to tank for one I would hope it would be... I can't say. I love the size of both but Lynch can run however. To me as someone said it best he is like a white Cam Newton.

We should avoid the easy to remember phrases aimed at specific players like, "Fuck-Off for Goff" or "Lose for Lynch"..

The last times we've done this, we ended up passing on Teddy B. Cardale regressed. We didn't suck enough during the "Suck for Luck" campaign...

Stay safe and go with, "Grow a sack, pick a Quarterback".

Keys, you are Jimmy Haslam. The season ends at the end of December, what do you do?

I have been busy the past day, but this post was on my mind. I have two good and plausible scenarios for the front office.

1. The Blow Up

B00bie outlined the most obvious target a week or so ago: Reload with the John Carroll connection. There are a number of JCU football alumni who have found great success in the NFL front office. The most attractive move is Patriots Director of Player Personnel Nick Caserio bringing OC Josh McDaniels with him to be the head coach. Caserio interviewed with the Dolphins about a year ago, so it seems he is considering making a move away from Belichick. I'm a little biased because I remember when these guys were in classes with me... I remember them as immature skirt chasing 20 year olds. But, this would be a great rebuild and Cleveland should get the hometown discount.

The backup plan I like to this blow up scenario is hiring Terry Mcdonough away from Arizona. He also has ties back to Ozzie Newsome and Belichick with the early 90s Browns. He spent a decade as the GM of the Jags, and his stint as a VP of Player Personnel with the rising Cardinals has shown that he learned quite a bit from his first gig. If they grab McDonough I'd prefer they make a sizable play for Bengals OC Hue Jackson. He only had one season with the Raiders as a head coach, and Al Davis was still creating chaos. I'd love to ses how well he rebuilds on offensive identity in Cleveland with a stable head coaching job.

2. The Make Good

The other major move I could see the Browns making (especially if Caserio doesn't want the Browns job) is replacing Farmer with Jeff Ireland and giving the coaching staff one more year to prove themselves. Ireland is a master drafter. With the Dolphins he had great success rates hitting on picks, but coaching never brought everything together for wins. He was a college scout for Seattle and now the Saints. He is a retread, but one who may have learned about his weaknesses while bringing a clear strength that Farmer lacks. At that point, Pettine and Flip have a year to see things through with the Farmer plan. If they continue to flounder, at least the GM situation is stable for a 2017 coaching search.

Love the JCU connection, as an alumni I don't disagree. Didn't Ireland draft Ted Ginn Jr.? Would you be in favor of bringing a consultant/head of football operations kind of person like Ernie Acorsi, Bill Polian or Bill Parcells?

Ginn was Drafted in 2007, and Ireland was the draft coordinator at that time. He became GM the following year, taking over for his mentor Parcells. I don't think it's fair to judge a man's ability on one botched pick. If you look at his drafts from 2001-2005 with the Cowboys, he found Pro Bowlers on day one and day two of the draft. The vast majority of Dolphin players now are the core he drafted. He is considered one of the better college scouts out there, and that is where the Browns franchise needs an expert.

Reality of the situation is we probably won't be winning any tie breakers. Our SoS is considerably harder than the other tankers, so we really need to lose out. Other way is if somehow we are the only 3 win team in the NFL. So here is a list of teams with 3 or less wins

Ratbirds- 2-7
Chargers- 2-7
Titans- 2-8
Lions- 2-7
Cowboys- 2-7
9ers- 3-6

Titans and Lions are out biggest threats imo outside of accidentally winning against SF.

The Lions and 49ers play each other.

We play the rats
We play the 9ers

The Titans schedule down the line includes Oak, Jax, Hou, @NWE, @NYJ @IND

I think they are the biggest threat to us. And odds are they are able to trade the pick and remain in the top 5 with a slew of other picks so we really need to outtank them.

I've not really seem him play either. Just curious, who has compared him to Tom Brady though?

A few fans, scouts?

I always roll my eyes, regardless of how good a QB prospect is, to put that kind of label on him though.

It just seems unfair to the kid.

I've always thought the strength of schedule tiebreaker was so dumb... you can argue it the other way too, if your strength of schedule is consistently higher (play better teams) due to a stronger division, then you deserve a higher pick so that you have better talent to compete in your tougher division.

Shit, they grilled him so badly over that pick because they chose Ginn over Brady Quinn.

If Ireland was the man behind that pick, I'd imagine he got the last laugh.

If I had a prototype to model a QB after, best believe it's probably not going to be Tom Brady from a physical standpoint.

If they were comparing him based on his diagnostic abilities in the pocket or preparation, they were probably talking out of their ass anyway.

The NFL should implement the 'Cleveland Browns rule' so that the first tiebreaker is based on 'years of futility.' Then no one would outtank us:)
