2016 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
21-6 TD:INT is hardly awful for a second year QB halfway through the season. Are we really going to pretend he isn't showing franchise QB potential?

I could argue that Bridgewater has the superior team around him, if they swapped places would Bridgewater be doing the same thing?

I don't know the answer. I like both QBs a lot and the Browns would be in an infinitely better situation had we taken one of them, both of whom were readily available.

I would argue Carr has the superior WRs and OL...easily too, guy has barely been sacked this year, and I am willing to bet Teddy is one of the most pressured QBs in the league. So you are swapping Carr and having him being babied by Norv by focusing on the run much more than the pass and playing behind a makeshift O-Line missing 2 of its better players...I still think Teddy last year, with no Adrian and asked to carry the team, is much better than Carr, but I may be a homer...

And I am not at all saying Carr isn't showing franchise QB potential...an off brand Jay Cutler is still a franchise QB, but will be much maligned for what seems to be poor timing and decisions on INTs because he has the mindset, due to his arm talent, that he can make any throw...nothing wrong with that.

Well, I'm not gonna argue seeing as Teddy is the guy I was begging the Browns to draft. Just saying, I think both are looking like they could have been rock solid picks for the Browns right about now.

Oh yeah, I'm convinced you guys, like most of the league, got caught up on the "skinny knees" and his pro day performance as the reasons you passed on him...I still couldn't believe when I heard the Browns brought in Bill Parcells to lead a $100,000 scouting mission on the QBs and told them to draft Teddy, then they drafted Manziel ahead of him....like, why wouldn't you listen to Parcells?

Because, Browns.

It's why when we jokingly say things like, "Jigo could run this team better," the statements actually aren't far from the truth.

That QB class last year was good, but I'll tell you one thing...all of those QBs wouldn't be having near as much success on the Browns are they are having with their current teams. Hard for any QB to win with no weapons, the worst defense in the league, and an obsolete run game. Take away Manziel's rushing yards yesterday, and the team had -2 total yards on the ground. No, that is not a typo. In fact, there have been multiple games this season where the QB has been the leading rusher on the team. Another tidbit of info- the Browns actually have more penalty yardage than rushing yards this season. The team is downright pathetic clear across the baord.

Bad defense is at least, partly, scheming. No way you can tell me this defense is the worst in the league talent wise. I almost have to wonder about the O Line, too.
Can't argue with no weapons, though.

You do realize that Carr has a 3.5-1 TD to Int rate right?

Bosa is not a slam dunk game-changer on a team without a franchise QB because it is THAT important to find one first.

Look at the Texans. They already had J.J. Watt. They took Jadeveon Clowney (who was considered a generational talent) #1 instead of Blake Bortles. Not only are they about to go to 3-6 tonight but their defense isn't even that good. Think having Bortles instead of Mallet to start the year is worth at least a win?

If the answer to the question "Is our franchise QB on the roster right now?" is not a definitive yes, we'd be foolish for passing on one if he has a grade even remotely close to our 1st round slot.

Right now, even a Manziel supporter can't answer that with more than a "maybe" if they're being honest. And a new regime isn't going to roll forward with someone else's "maybe".

Took the words right out of my mouth. JJ Watt is the best defensive player in the league the last 3-4 years and the Texans absolutely suck. Get the QB, fill in the rest.

If you need another example look at Indianapolis. A healthy Andrew Luck hides a LOT of holes on a team.

Yeah? Cool. He's being asked to do more with better weapons with a better line...I'm not saying the guy is bad...don't get why people think I'm trying to say that. Just he's thrown some really bad INTs. vs Denver, vs Pittsburgh, and vs Minnesota, 3 games they had a chance, he cost them with poor INTs...Cutler-esque...doesn't mean he is a bad QB.

Yeah that end of year 2 or 3 game meaningless win streak is coming.

Parcells had nothing to do with that QB study.
