2016 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That's fair.

It is stronger for OFs than other positions.

Not even really saying I think Tribe will sign one, tho. Seems extremely unlikely they do much in FA. Just wondering if the OF market being saturated will make a trade easier or cheaper.

Honestly I'm just trying to convince myself they aren't going to do some awful Almonte in CF, Chiz/Sands in RF situation.

I think they'll re-up Raburn and DFA Sands.

But that's likely your platoon in RF. I like what I've seen from Almonte thus far, but really anything out there seems to be a bridge to Naquin or Zimmer.

If they make an addition this off-season, I'd guess it's a left-hand hitting 1B/DH type to platoon with Chris Johnson.

I don't think any of the four FA OFs you mentioned will be in play. Though a trade could certainly be in play for a younger, controlled player if they can make it work.

Laughed at him offensively at 1B.

50 points? Wow, that's a Jose Ramirez-esque jump since his recall.

More like 20 points for Ramirez (who only has 1 DNP since his recall compared to 5 for the superior Lonnie).....and still very close to sub .200 BA. Face it, Lonnie is a player.....Ramirez is a career minor leaguer.

Face it, Lonnie is

Five years older with more than 1300 career AB playing a power position. I'd hope he's swinging it a higher clip

I understand your whole purpose here is to be willfully ignorant and pat yourself on the back for thinking you rile people up based on your own stupidity...but really, Ramirez is hitting 75 points better since his callup and is 22. He's got some time to prove himself.

I understand you enjoy the smell of your own insignificance, but really, Ramirez will never amount to anything in this league. He'll have plenty of time to prove himself with another team, unfortunately.

And he is not hitting 75 points better since his call-up. Here are the stats:

June 7th BA:

Lonnie - .209
Stinky P - .180

August 27th BA:

Lonnie - .258 (+.049 in 67 ABs)
Stinky P - .202 (+.022 in 80 ABs)

But we all knew that was coming....

Pre-All Star break: .176
Post-All Star break: .250

Hence, 75 points better since his callup.

Don't really care about Chisenhall by comparison.

Going into next year with this same offense plus left-handed Chris Johnson is sort of unacceptable, right? Not really calling on them to sign a big FA - but they have to find a way to improve one of the 2 open OF positions. I'm as excited about Zimmer as anyone - but we might not even see him next year.

Going into next year with -

Kip
Lindor
Brantley
Santana
Johnson/LH Johnson
Gomes
Chiz/Raburn
Almonte/Naquin
Urshela

Would be pretty awful. Why waste another yr of the rotation and Brantley/Kipnis on that lineup? Has to be SOME way to improve it.

I think they'll bring in someone to platoon with Johnson, taking the majority of ABs at 1B/DH while Johnson starts against lefties.

Don't really see many realistic options available to improve the OF, though a slight upgrade their via trade would be interesting too.

Justin Morneau, Adam Lind and Mitch Moreland (via trade) come to mind as possibilities.

Of that bunch, I'd prefer Moreland.

2B - Kipnis
SS - Lindor
LF - Brantley
1B/DH - Santana
1B/DH - Moreland/Lind/Morneau
C - Gomes
RF - Chisenhall/Raburn
3B - Urshela
CF - Almonte/Ramirez (I think they'll try this out)

Stinky P in center? I'd rather just rush up any of our outfield prospects.

I could see Justin Morneau as an Indian if they try to find a compliment for Johnson. Has been a plus defender in the past, his last contract was for 12m for 2 years so he would be a reasonable price, I think.

Of course, until we know about the team's front office situtation this is all hypothetical.

Typical Indians organization move, nothing out of the box. Regarding Moreland.

Don't see how this improves the wins.

Your alternative seems to be adding Justin Upton, a 3 oWAR player.

If Mitch Moreland, a 2 oWAR player, doesn't improve wins, Upton's effect will be minimal as well.

Not really seeing much of a difference, in terms of wins.

If the Indians want to win, they'll need Urshela, Chisenhall, Ramirez and Santana to progress/rebound.

One power hitter isn't going to be the end all.

It just reminds me of the Dellucci's, Kotchman's, etc.. Times we were close we went that route.

So basically, you just ignored my post.

Cool.

Good talk.
