They also showed the execs and scouts currently in their organization that they won't hardball them or block them if there is a mutually acceptable parting. That should be looked on kindly by Antonetti, Chernoff, and those below them and help create/continue a working environment considered positive.Dolan is taking over the business aspect of the Indians operation.
Indians passed on receiving compensation from the Jays. Missed opportunity to add another prospect to the organization there....
That was my understanding.
Ok, so as long as other FO guys (and Tito) don't jump ship then our on the field product/vision shouldn't change that much.
I know you were concerned about those things happening when the news was first released. Is that still the case?

It's not like Shapiro had multiple years left on his deal. He was year to year. Given that, had the Indians pursued compensation, what level of prospect would it even have been?
I think this article summarizes the most important aspect of the future of the Indians. IF Dolan sells 30% in order to use that to bring in a few all-stars then I think we have a future like the Cavs. Get it done Paul.

Yes, you are correct. Let's see if the scrooge family spends the money properly.Umm.... no.
If the Indians spend more than they should (which I doubt they do even if Dolan acquires a minority partner) they still don't have the best freaking player of our lifetime and a team that's heavily favored to win multiple championships... they'll be left with a team that SHOULD compete for the foreseeable future... in a much less predictable sport.
Cleveland hasn't seen a team that has the Cavs' potential since the Browns dynasties of old.
Serious question, is there any reason we should miss Shapiro? I know he never had a lot of money to work with, but the man was a prominent leader of the organization for SO LONG and accomplished very little in terms of on-field success.
I'm no baseball expert but it's kind of astounding to think that there have been few major front-office shakeups on the part of the Indians over the years considering how often they suck.
Um....a little explanation on how the blue and red bar is computed?
