2016 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If we're set up for the future (and I'm not going to disagree with that) what's the big deal if they leave? They've done their job and are moving on to greener pastures.

We need to start seeing the on field product come together at the big league level.....and it's long overdue.

We're coming off of our 1st consecutive winning seasons in over a decade...I get that they have been extremely underwhelming this year, but what we did in 2013 and 2014 in itself is a huge step, considering the age of our group and how long they are locked up with us...they were supposed to take the "next step" this year, but it didn't come (for a slew of reasons that would take too long to type out)...no reason to think it still can't come with some tinkering, and I'd trust this front office to rectify that more than a new one, because most new front offices tend to overreact.

We're really only a solid right handed outfield bat away from serious contention (Urshela needs some time to grow hopefully because his bat is looking real weak right now). If Santana would just get his shit together that would go a long way, too.

And you keep saying shit like this...guy is about to have his 5th consecutive season of 15+ HRs while having a .350+ OBP...the fact that you think our issues begin and end with Santana just shows how wrong your view of things happening with the Indians really is.

Reading comprehension bimbo.

You can't honestly sit here and tell me that Slamtana has been great for us......he is an under achiever despite what his OBP and HR statistics have been.

And I'm not even going to mention his fielding issues.

I know how to read, and I've read your shit posts about Santana being the worst player on the team and your least favorite player on the team following the Bourn and Swisher trades.

His 1.4 fWAR and 107 wRC+ so far this year tells me he is still producing at an above average level, while having a down year (which apparently isn't allowed if you're Santana), whether you think he isn't or not.

And my issue with you is you are being way too farsighted with the guy...everyone has been expecting him to be a 30 HR, 100 RBI, cleanup hitting masher since his 2nd year with the team, when it looked like he would develop into that...but instead he developed into something different that is just as valuable in today's MLB...a guy who gets on base like a leadoff hitter while still hitting for power. Problem is, we can't find a #4 hitter (what they hoped Moss would be), so he is still plugged into a spot that doesn't play to his offensive game...if we had a legit cleanup guy, and Santana was hitting 2nd in front of Brantley and whoever that person is, there would be an incredible new found adulation for what Santana provides and has been providing the last few years.

But go ahead, keep on thinking batting average, HRs, and RBIs are the only positive offensive stats in today's MLB...you're only 20 years behind...

If you want to throw "old" and "disagree" ratings instead of continuing the discussion, or trying to prove why what I am saying is indeed wrong or old, then you aren't worth it anymore, @Lord Mar...welcome to ignore.

Speaking of Brandon Moss, he's been absolutely atrocious for Stl. Great trade.

Indians failed on that add and at least they admitted it by trading him.

They've contended literally two out of the last three seasons.

I'm sure this will get shot down right away, and maybe it should, but what about Ryan Braun?

Here's his remaining contract:

2014: $10 million
2015: $12 million
2016: $19 million
2017: $19 million
2018: $19 million
2019: $18 million
2020: $16 million
2021: $15 million (Option)

The Brewers are rebuilding, and they've reportedly shown interest in moving him. There's a ton of risk though - he's 31, he's had issues with his thumb, the PEDs issue, the long-term commitment...it is probably enough to scare them away.

He's a RH power bat. He's put up nice numbers, projecting to finish with 29 HR, 95 RBI, and an .837 OPS.

Would the Brewers take Chris Johnson and a package of prospects?

L-2B-Kipnis
S-SS-Lindor
L-LF-Brantley
R-RF-Braun
S-1B-Santana
R-C-Gomes
L-DH-Chisenhall
S-CF-Almonte
R-3B-Urshela

I'm leaning no, but it's tempting, and it's a way to get that big bat without breaking up the Big 4 in the rotation.

Thoughts?

Sure, I'd go for it.

Good luck convincing Dolan....

Depending on the prospects, yes for me. If I'm the Brewers, why would I want that much money on the hook for what's gunna be a terrible team for awhile.
