2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
If the Browns sit atop the draft come the off-season, Myles Garrett is simply the only logical choice.

Game-changing talent. Every game.

Better than Von Miller as a prospect, for me. One of the best pure pass rushing prospects to ever come into the draft.

For me, it's between him and Julius Peppers for best of the last 25 years.
If for some reason we don't get #1, wouldn't he be worth trading up for if that's his projection?

Here's the thing, @AZ_ is obviously implying that the trajectory dictates it, and he's also implying that a reasonable trade is available. So it's an impossible question, but what he really means is that this guy is an 11/10 prospect.

Just make sure that you watch the interviews. It's VERY important that he doesn't become the next Clowney; it's not enough that he just avoids becoming the next Manziel. I think that's a critical point: his mental/emotional makeup coincide with the rare physical ability. That's something that the greats have. There's not just a lack of red flags, there's myriad positive signs that he's not a diva, he's a leader, etc.

This QB stuff, like you just get a franchise QB because you pick first, that's just not how it goes. The draft is littered with the bodies of 1st round marginally talented QB's. You simply CANNOT miss on a decade long, multi-year Pro Bowler (except for injury), if you are in the top few picks. So put the QB's in a list of QB's taken in the last 5 years, then see where they fit, right before the draft. What i mean to say is that they might be graded late 1st or 2nd rounders in that 5 year range, and even if 1st rounders, this is the NFL draft - they need to be as close to a can't miss as possible, if they are going to go in the top 3.

He went out last week against Tennessee on a busted ankle, only able to play on pass downs, and wreaked fucking havoc out of pure will power.

He absolutely shouldn't even be playing right now given his future, but he laid it all out for his team last week.

Played every snap of overtime and forced the errant pass that was picked off to seal it.

He's an absolute monster, with the motor Clowney just never seemed to have.

Every interview I've seen from Garrett comes away with me thinking this guy gets it.

I think he wants to be great. I think Clowney wanted to be paid greatly.

EDIT: found a good article

Brad Kaaya, your thoughts, AZ?

Not sold, probably a 3rd round prospect for me at this rate.

Betting he slides up boards in a weak class, early 2nd or late first depending on his makeup/interviews.

Seems like a pretty enlightened kid, and has some skills that definitely translate to the next level. Hindered by some poor coaching and that will set him back some IMO.

The stuff about him as a person gives you chills. Type of guy who goes fishing on draft day....But also saw this about his play in high school:

Garrett became one as a senior, recording 8.5 sacks in a game against Weatherford, adding two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a blocked punt. ,

Da fuq??

Those guys on Weatherford probably still wake up at night with nightmares....

I'm an incredible sucker for talent coupled with character. He seems like the kind of kid you'd want your daughter to marry. Here's the end of his interview after Tennessee -- worth watching to see what he says about the hurricane:

Of course, that can sometimes be referred to as "Courtney Brown Syndrome", but Garrett does seem to be from another planet in terms of both talent and production.

That's sort of where I'm at. I'm really intrigued by his talent, and he's smart and tough, which rather than Moxie, is how I like my QB.

The issue is Miami's coaching has been shit, so has he failed to develop because of that, or has he plateaued?

I'm sure I spelled that wrong.

I'll never say a kid with his talent has plateaued, but Miami was unable to produce much NFL talent under the last regime and their development was a big reason why.

Not being able to flip South Florida talent to the league is embarrassing.

Who, for sake of argument, are your top five QBs?

1. DeShone Kizer - Notre Dame

2. DeShaun Watson - Clemson

3. Luke Falk - Wazzu

4. Cooper Rush - CMU

5. Mitch Trubisky - UNC / Brad Kaaya - UM
