2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For one year? Seems like a no risk, high reward move to me. If he plays at a high level again next season, give him his long term deal. If he doesn't, no harm since it was only a one year deal.

Tagging him is almost a no brainer for both sides, I think. Unless a team wants to pay him top 5/top 10 WR money for multiple years right now, which I don't think is happening.

Also, with Collins now signed, who the hell else on this roster would be worth tagging? Serious question.

Crowell is the closest thing besides Pryor.

Dont really want to tag either if avoidable. It pisses players off (see Cousins) who think they deserve top 10 long term deals.

Rather pay Pryor front loaded contract, use some of the money we saved on Collins and use the cap space we have now to pay someone else long term later. Win/Win to me. More guaranteed money for Pryor, less risk he leaves to me.

I believe he is under contract with the Browns for a season, still, and will be until he is actually eligible to play for most of a season.

That's the last I heard anyway, and I'm not sure why that would have changed.

I hear that a few months ago, but he showed up on several free agent lists i read. Might be lazy reporting, or just reporting that didnt fact check too much.

Either way, he isnt eligible and fuck him anyways.

But when no other team offers you a top 10 long term deal? Neither of these guys has done enough yet to warrant that kind of money. I would think Pryor would be OK betting on himself and making top 5 money for a year in the meantime.

Pryor might be the exception. He bet on himself already and is fond of Hue, so your right, might be a smart move in this case.

The AFC North was awful this year.

He's not going to retire...but if he did, this division would totally be up for grabs next season.

From what i can find he is a restricted free agent.

That said I wont bet anything on him being restricted, I know the suspension does things to his free agency.

I can tell you he isnt re-instated yet, so free agent or not, he isnt even eligible to play in the NFL.
Years suspended don't count towards contract years.

We still have 2 years of team control for Gordon.

I think he will be on the team and contribute on the field next season.

not sure i would agree with franchise tag of pryor. No problem with a big 1 year contract to a top 10-20 reciever, with a team option for next year. But a franchise tag seems like a stretch

Question for you guys, from the players who are currently going to be available in free agency who would you bring for this team?

I know the draft isn't done yet, but most are saying the OLine isn't all that great in the draft, so that is a need for maybe a veteran to bring in and compete with Drago, Coleman, Erving and that group. Any guys you want to see us bring in for that? Is there any guys in free agency that really fit our new DC's needs for the roster? We need some veterans to fill out the team and compete with all the young guys we got in camp since we are going to still be very young next season.

A franchise tag is essentially a big 1 year contract....

Up for grabs between the Ravens and Bengals?
