2018-19 Predicitons thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Money is creative.

I say they will.. name your stakes.

The odds of the Celtics reaching the ECF are much higher than the Celtics going out in the second round.

Can you think of fair stakes for the bet? That’s what I meant by creative.

If you think it’s fair, I can roll with that too.

But, you name the price. I dunno.

Well, sure..

:chuckle: You probably shouldn't tell me you'll take the bet straight up immediately after asking for odds... :Chuckle:

$100-$200? $50? Everyone's pockets are a bit different my friend.. Unless you want higher stakes?

Also, while even money would obviously be preferable and I probably shouldn't say this I'm fine with 3:2 odds if you that works for you? ;)

Man, I just can't see any way LeBron, a man who has made 8 straight FINALS, is going to miss the playoffs. Yeah, I get it, he's in the WEST now, but seriously. The Lakers won't finish ahead of Memphis, Dallas, Phoenix, Sacramento, the Clips, Minnesota and San Antonio? Just not buying it.

Lakers' playoff chances depend a lot on LeBron's health. If he misses 20 games due to various injuries, they probably lose 16-18 of those...that's an almost insurmountable setback. But if he plays all 82 games again or close, they probably make it with a few games to spare.

While I doubt LeBron plays all 82, he's only missed double digit games in a season once in his 15 years. It's obviously not an impossibility, but it does seem highly unlikely he'll miss 20 or more.

Also think the Lakers are a little more equipped to handle a LeBron absence, so if they play their rest card right, they could break even in games he sits.

They're a little more equipped, which is why I give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that (unlike the Cavs without LeBron) they'll win more than 0 games :chuckle:

Agree that it's fairly unlikely LeBron misses 20+ games, but it's amazing that we can say something like that with a straight face about a player his age with so many miles on his legs. I'd give it...a 10-25% chance? Father time is undefeated, after all. If this is the year he finally comes for the GOAT, I won't shed a tear.

Between the LeBron effect that all his new teams go through, his still aging body, and a tougher conference, all it will take is one extended slump and they are dead in the water.

To be honest, we haven't seen LeBron be LeBron for all 82 since 2009. I dont expect it to happen this year.

I don't expect it either. That LeBron is gone. He's not going to be the offensive and defensive monster he was. However, I see what they're trying to do. Rondo and Lonzo are going to take a ton of ballhandling duties away from him, so he won't be expending as much energy there. They've got switchy wings in Hart and KCP. For all his faults, and there are a lot, JaVale is a true lob threat. And Kuzma and Ingram can play on or off the ball.

Assuming health, I think they'll be far better than people think.

That roster looks like the '08 Cavs roster to me. And I don't think 45 wins gets you in the West this year.

People are down on San Antonio and I don't get it? They won 47 games last year w/o Leonard playing almost ever. Theyve now switched him out for DeRozan and people think they'll be worse?

I'm with you 100%

When I saw the Spurs win total at 43.5 I was baffled.

They won 47 and did nothing but get better in adding DeRozan and Poeltl.
