MVP voting, in its current form, is a damn joke, it's become completely storyline-driven. Voting should take place after the conference finals, I think that would, to an extent, prevent the media from forcing its agenda onto the award. I mean, knowing what happened in this year's playoffs, how could anyone justify voting for Harden?

Say it with me: MVP is a REGULAR SEASON award.

Doing any kind of voting after any point of the playoffs defeats the purpose.

I'm well aware of the fact that it's a REGULAR SEASON award, but it should not be, something needs to change.

It's quite evidently not about value anymore. In 17/18, it was the "Kinda the Best Player on the Team with the Most Regular Season Wins Award". In 16/17, it was "The Guy Who Did Something Historic Award".

Taking playoffs performance into account would not only restore, but enhance the award's integrity and prestige - especially knowing that a player's true value shines brightest in the playoffs.

Moving MVP voting to after the CFs would
  • eliminate suspect, undeserving MVPs like Harden
  • provide a bunch of intriguing extra storylines that the media and the fans could chew on
  • make the MVP race a whole lot more exciting and unpredictable. This season, we knew from the outset that The Bearded Fuck was going to get it.
The current approach of voters is obsolete. A player's real value does not necessarily show until the playoffs. The MVP is slowly but surely becoming a joke, and the fans can see the BS.

Bottom line is the NBA should not want this trend to continue, which is why I think tweaks are necessary.

Paul George has some kinda balls pulling what lebron did, and making a show of it.

The fall back is going to be funny. Sorry okc fans.

Thought this was pretty impressive.
The 2011 Dallas Mavericks officially defeated 5 MVPs during their title run

Kobe (2008), Lebron (2009, 2010, 2012, 2013), Durant (2014), Westbrook (2017), Harden (2018).

That’s also 8 of the last 11 MVPs overall. Dirk and the Mavs took them all down in a span of 15 total games.

Looks like Paul George has some sort of celebrity fishing tournament next week and Russ is coming, how is that going to go if Paul leaves?

Heard a Trae Young interview on the radio this morning. Brutal.

Interviewer: Trae, you said you want to do things this league has never seen before. What does this mean?

Trae Young: I gotta be honest. *long pause*. I don’t know what I’m saying.

PG has an entire docuseries about his decision? he'll def get as much hate as lebron right?

wrong
