2018-2019 Tank Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Basically I think we should do this in the offseason:
Keep:
Sexton
Cedi
Love
TT
Zizic

Wait until next years deadline:
Delly
Clarkson
Knight
Nance

Trade on draft night if possible:
JR
Henson

Re-sign:
Nwaba
Chriss

let walk:
Stuaskas
Frye

So our roster for headin into next season:
1. Love
2. Tristan
3. Sexton
4. Cedi
5. Nance
6. Nwaba
7. Clarkson
8. Knight
9. Delly
10. Zizic
11. Chriss
12. Cavs First Rounder
13. Rockets First Rounder
14. Free agent/Henson
15. Free agent/ JR
16. Two way player
17. Two way player

Not bad. Is next year a soft tank or full tank?

I think it depends on the lottery. If we land Zion I don’t think we will miss the playoffs... Zion + Love + new coach are pretty major upgrades. If we miss on him we should tank another season imo as we would still need to get a franchise player

If we get Zion great; if not we're probably going to be at the bottom anyways even with a new coach.

I will disagree about Love. He is a very good (not great) player when healthy. However; he is physically brittle and isn't going to contribute meaningfully over the course of a full season due to that.

A Treadmill team is the most likely outcome. I wouldn't mind some playoff appearances. The odds of getting another ring in the next 20 years or so is very very low. It took almost 50 years for the first one.

If they made the playoffs next year, that would be a hell of a feat. Year 2 POST LBJ? Damn

Yeah for sure. It seems relatively plausible to me. Yeah the top teams in the east are really good, but the bottom 4 seem pretty easy to leapfrog. Maimi doesn't have one guy on guy as good as Love. Blake Griffin, D'angelo Russel.

For sure that was a great game just played by the Cavs where they shot pretty well, but they went toe to toe without Love.

If Cedi and Sexton don't get any better I could see them not having a chance at the 8th seed. If major injuries decimate this team as badly as this year I could see them not having a chance.

I like your list, but I would part with TT rather than Nance Jr.

But we got one. Recently. Go check ow many teams have never got one. Or long teams like the bucks have waited for another. Since Alcindor

I know. That's what I'm saying. Odds are it is a long wait for the next one. I'll be happy with some playoff appearances in 2 years

We can still land in the bottom 10, and need to just one more year after this one.

Even ROTYs tend to be liabilities on defense and so-so on offense; even LeBron couldn't quite get the Cavs in, during either of the first 2 seasons.

Here's the problem with the tank this year.
Even if we finish in the bottom 3, the chances of us getting pick number 1 are slim. Only Zion seems to be a real instant difference maker. A team with Love, Zion, and maybe a decent FA pickup would be a decent team from the get go.
Anybody else probably will need 3 years to develop into a good pro.
But, would you trade Love and pick number 3, for pick number 1? I'd be tempted.

Idk........ja morant is growing on me a a great consolation prize. Kid just seems to know how to score. Having sexton would not prevent me from taking morant if we don't get zion. Personal opinion.
