2018 NFL SEASON Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd be more salty that my QB sucks... The Bears had a truly great team. And they got beat because Trubisky sucked.

They should have won easily. They were the better team, but the Eagles had the better QB.

That's always the biggest wild card. QB play matters too much. And the Bears couldn't over come theirs.

The QB numbers yesterday were actually quite similar:
Foles: 25-40/266/2/2
Trubisky: 26-43/303/1/0

Trubisky didn’t lose the game for the Bears. In fact, he made a great throw to put them in position for the game-winning FG. The kicker and the coaches let them down.

I think what concerns me about the Saints. The last 3 or 4 weeks, they've not looked the same. They honestly should have lost to the Steelers and Panthers.

Brees has not looked the same at all. Age is catching up to him. He's still great, but that running game is really what drives them.

The first match up they got destroyed, but I don't take a lot out of it. Because one, both teams were different then compared to now.

Also, I think there's always an advantage for the losing team playing that team again. They get the chance to clean up what they did wrong. Just look at the Ravens and Chargers game.

Saints are great against the run, but struggle against the pass. I think Foles with Jeffrey and Tate will find holes. If Foles doesn't turn the ball over. You can't against Brees, they got a chance.

I still like the Saints because of their running game and they're at home. I just don't think you can say its a slam dunk though.

What concerns ME about the Saints is that they should have lost to Hue Jackson, at home. If the refs aren’t crooked, and the Browns have a competent kicker, the Browns win going away, and THAT is our first win in over a year...

Kicker didn’t.

The kicker had one job. He failed.

If you weren’t aware that the kick was blocked when you posted this, I’ll assume you are now.

It was blocked. I think we can agree a blocked kick isn’t on the kicker if he kicks it high enough and on target.

If you want to dig in and stick with this stance, I’m happy to throw a few analogies at you to make you look stupid! LMK

You can't blame a kicker for a kick that's blocked. Are we just going to shit on him because he was a previous Browns kicker that sucked?

I don't really even care. It's not like he's a bad guy. Eagles made a play, and it saves them.

Sorry, but teams that rely so much on a kicker to win, well, maybe they're not that good?

Eagles scored a TD to win. Bears were playing for a field goal.

And I blame the Bears coach for his horrific use of timeouts.

I am aware that the kick got “blocked”.

Just because a kick gets “blocked” doesn’t mean it’s not the kicker’s fault. Kicks with a low trajectory are much more likely to get blocked. In fact, it’s not even certain that the reason the kick missed is because it got GRAZED. If I were a Bears fan, I would be PISSED that my team dropped $9 million in guaranteed money on a below-average kicker. I would most DEFINITELY want him gone, just like I wanted Gonzo gone, just like I wanted Mesa gone after blowing Game 7 of the ‘97 WS.

Well, it had a low trajectory because it was a shitty snap with late placement.

Yeah, he's been a kicker all his life. But he's going to suddenly kick a field goal from 43 yards with low trajectory? Tell me in what way that makes any freakin' sense!

He's an NFL kicker, maybe not a good one.

But this dude wouldn't even be in the LEAGUE if he didn't have enough leg to make those. Notice before they called the time out he booted it just fine.

If he gagged, he would have shanked it to the right or left. It only shanked left because it was tipped, but STILL almost went through. That if anything tells you how well he kicked it. It'd gone through.

He didn't cost them shit.

Well, I’m glad to hear it. Because blowing that kick would be a terrible thing to live with. I’m sure $9 million guaranteed softens the blow, also.

I’m also quite conflicted over icing the kicker. I half-think it should be against the rules. It’s a pretty annoying thing to do.

Even if he did miss. Why does he deserve to be hated for the rest of his life? Man, people just going overboard. Parkey of all people took the blame, and obviously felt like complete shit.

I never like to look at one fucking play, and say that's why a team blew it. Of course not making it cost them, but a lot of shit did. They made a lot of mistakes you can look at throughout the game, and say that cost them.

The coaching staff was bad. Trubisky was bad. And even the number one defense did not play up to expectations. When they needed stops, they couldn't get them.

Those all reasons why they lost, too.

People want to talk about being clutch. No position in sports requires you to be more clutch than a kicker. It's part of the job, otherwise you are gone.

Where the game is one the line, you got all the time in the world to think about it. That's a lot of pressure. Anyone would be a little nervous in that circumstance. Where during the play of football you're reacting on the fly, and don't have time to really think to be nervous.

Not for a kicker. You got plenty of fucking time to think about it.

One mistake like this, you might be out of a job. No other position has as much pressure.

And if you make it? No one will give him any credit either.

Example if Trubisky responds with a shitty pick. Is he out? No. Is he getting blamed a lot? Probably, but never to this level where fans will start sending this guy death threats probably to Parkey.

That's how sick fans can be.

These are the same asshole fans the blamed Bartman for a World Series that wasn't even his fault. So they are the ones that are fucked up if you ask me.

Goes with the territory, man. He’s getting $9 million guaranteed to take the heat. If no one cared one way or the other, he would make about 9 THOUSAND dollars. No one made him sign the contract.

People care about sports. It’s why being a professional athlete is so lucrative. WHY people care so much about spectator sports is another question entirely...

Who you got this round?

Saints
Rams
New England
Colts

The one I feel strongly about is the Rams bc when watching the Cowboys, I don’t think Dak made a single progression the entire game. The other teams all have good QBs.
