Sounded to me like Flaherty made that call. He didn't win the utility job, so he'd be a short-term fill-in at best had he stayed.

Miller is a much better hitter than Flaherty, but not as strong of fielder. My guess is now Moroff/Stamets is at SS, the other one is the utility guy, then when guys start coming back, thats when Stamets goes down.

Honestly I was kind of hoping that we went and got a guy like we did with Mercado last season as a long term type of guy. I would almost rather have the three young guys manning 2B, SS and utility until Lindor and Kipnis got healthy. I know it is a win now year, but being a small market team, we need long term options as well.
