2019 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
18 outs, 17K's? Those are crazy numbers.

He was on my shortlist to make the ball club in the off season thread for a reason. I mean it’s still the minors, but if he keeps this up, it may not be long til he earns his way to the big league club.

Yeah good luck hitting this guy....

With guys like Broom, Mejia, Sandlin, Karinchak coming up, that's quite a bit of talent coming up for the pen.... and that's not including a guy like Hentges who I think ends up being a high-end guy back there as well.

Broom looks a little like Joe Smith, from the angle he throws, but like @Out of the Rafters at the Q said his spin rate looks really high. He is considered a ROOGY by the reports I read, had a lot of walks last season, but also a ton of strikeouts.

The only issue I see going forward is the fact they are trying to change the rules for relievers to where when they come in they have to face three batters unless they finish the innings so guys who are LOOGYs and ROOGYs have to be able to get out the other group of hitters as well.

So what you’re saying is the broom sweeps. Talk about a solid return on assets.

Daniel Johnson so far:

BB ratio improves from 5.9% to 13.5
K ratio improves from 23% to 20%

ISO improves a full tenth, from .143 to .246

BABIP actually falls from .338 to .318

He's ready for more, IMO.

Clear out some of this backlog at AAA and in the big leagues and get him ready.

I would be okay with cutting Maybin and/or Thompson down there and moving up Johnson to AAA, he will finish the season there without a doubt. Though it doesn't help the guys hitting the best at AAA are the OFs. I just don't see an everyday spot at AAA opening up right now. Luplow, Barnes and Mercado are hitting over 300, then you have Papi who can back from injury. Bradley is at 1st so Papi ends up the DH, so that really cuts out an everyday spot at AAA.

I think Pantoja or Monasterio may end up getting the AAA call before Johnson cause of needs rather than cause of ability levels. Can you tell me (@Derek @BimboColesHair as well) is there anything special about those two or they just hitting well right now?

Also I am curious if you guys think Peoples, Josh Smith could contribute to the big club this season? Also what is your take on Tully, Plesac and Solter at AA? Anything to look forward to those guys or they just hot right now?

(aka I ask you guys since you know the minor leagues)
