2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Maybe that highlight video doesn't do him justice...but he looked like a smaller Marvin Bagley to me. And what do you even do with a Marvin Bagley that's only 6'7"?
eh.

I’ll probably have to watch some more videos of him. He looked like a beast to me. It’s only high school though. Once we see college videos I’m sure opinions will change.

When is the last time the #1 recruit in highschool was the #1 pick in the draft? Anthony Davis? I really don't know, but the college class usually sorts itself further

I love guys who are strong finishers, but if you're a perimeter player, that can't be your only above-average skill. I haven't done nearly enough research to say anything with confidence, but from that video the rest of his skillset looked really raw/underdeveloped.

I'm pretty confident Cam Reddish (Duke) will go #1 next year. In my brief research, he seems to have a really good feel for the game.

De'Andre Hunter (Virginia) and Daniel Gafford (Arkansas) would've been likely lotto picks this year-- I really like both.

Sekou Doumbouya (France) is an absolute freak of nature and will be the youngest player in the draft.

I could be talked into Zion if he shows some consistent intensity defensively.

Yeah, left handed Kobe my ass. There's no place in the modern NBA for a SG who can't shoot or pass. I'm not ready to punt on Zion just yet, but the rest of these guys would have to look like totally different players next year to get me interested. Jontay made a great choice going back to school...he'll average 20/10/4 and go top-5.
Looks like shabbazz Muhammad, think he got the left handed Kobe comparison coming out of high school too

I tend to think Reddish is the best of the 1-and-done bunch too, and indeed, should be a solid class of sophomores in the draft. Noticed Doumbouya signed with Limoges a couple weeks ago, so he'll be playing in the top French league and Eurocup next year. It'll be interesting to see how well he plays and how big of a role he earns against much tougher competition than he's previously faced.

Reddish is more of a mid lottery guy to me because he lacks the athleticism and handle you want in an NBA wing. Great shooter but he needs to round out his game. He's also really quiet from what I have been told, so I'm sure he'll be a really polarizing player among NBA front offices. He's also older (19), which some teams won't love.

In terms of NBA potential, I really like Quentin Grimes. He's so polished for a high school kid. Go watch some of his film.....it looks like they just dropped an NBA lead guard in to a high school gym. He just has absolutely everything you look for in a modern NBA combo guard. Size, athleticism, vision, handle, shooting and defensive effort and he just turned 18. He's a stud.

Well, Reddish is 18 years old (Sept. 1 1999). He has a late birthday; it'll be a complete non-issue. It's not like he repeated a grade and beat up on younger competition like others have done....

I mean not a word was mentioned about Michael Porter Jr's age (turned 20 today) or Bamba or Ayton or Gilgeous-Alexander or Trae Young-- all of whom were 19.6 or older when drafted.

I don't know a ton about him but to be 6'9" and be skilled enough to pull something like this out of his ass.... that's a pretty talented dude.

I never said he wasn’t talented, he certainly is.....I just think he has to show marked improvement as a creator off the dribble to be considered in the top 5.

He did make strides as a senior, with his aggressiveness but he needs to continue to assert himself and dominate games with his talent. He’s kind of a drifter for how good he is, where there will be stretches where you forget he’s even in the floor....kind of a less athletic Harrison Barnes vibe to me.

I mentioned age because it will be nitpicked if he doesn’t get rid of the drifting. He’s going to play his freshman year at 19 and scouts are really going to be turned off if he’s not consistently giving effort and dominating....and I’m making that assessment based on someone saying he’s #1 pick material....not simply as a top 5-6 guy.

I don't understand this part at all. He's gonna be younger in his draft year than Ayton, Porter Jr., Bamba and their age wasn't picked at at all during the draft process despite questions about their effort and I would think all three of those guys were at one point considered at #1.

Can't sleep on point forward types like Reddish...they're just so rare. Believe it or not, no freshman forward has ever averaged 3 assists and 1 three pointer per game. Less than a handful of 6'8"-6'9" teenagers in basketball history could claim to have deep range off the dribble and real point-forward skills, and he's one of them. If those aspects of his game remain strong at the college level and he continues to play defense at a high level, I think he has a very strong case to go #1 overall even if he lacks that high level leadership and killer instinct people like to see.

Reddish looks like a pretty solid prospect. Now is he at the level you would want in top 2? TBD but he def has some good traits that lead to a very productive and promising nba career as a wing.

I’m all on RJ Barrett hype train.

Reddish and Barrett both have potential but I really hate drafting wings that have somewhat suspect handles and very average creation skills. I'm hoping both show significant development at Duke in both categories. Barrett is a bit better than Reddish in both departments but neither show that type of off the dribble moves that will immediately be successful at the next level IMO.

That's why at this point I tend to lean towards guys like Nassir Little, who is an NBA athlete with shooting touch and an above average handle that has gotten better. Out of all the guys I have watched extended tape on, he's who I would take #1 at this point.

Is there anyone in this draft that is worth sabotaging the season and the development of the young guys already here by purposely trying to win just 18-22 games?

I’m all for ensuring that we don’t forfeit our pick to ATL, but I don’t think gutting thinks so badly that we can barely win 20 games is the right move either as I don’t see the clearcuy player worthy of that degree of tanking for.

I would much rather compete(but with the young guys all getting 25-35mpg), let the chips fall where they may, and likely deaft in the 7-9 range. Year after year shows that there are always eventual Allstats available in that range: Klay, Kawhi, Drummond, Giannis, Hayward, PG13, Mitchell, etc.
