2019 NBA Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is there anyone in this draft that is worth sabotaging the season and the development of the young guys already here by purposely trying to win just 18-22 games?

I’m all for ensuring that we don’t forfeit our pick to ATL, but I don’t think gutting thinks so badly that we can barely win 20 games is the right move either as I don’t see the clearcuy player worthy of that degree of tanking for.

I would much rather compete(but with the young guys all getting 25-35mpg), let the chips fall where they may, and likely deaft in the 7-9 range. Year after year shoes that there are always eventual Allstats available in that range: Klay, Kawhi, Drummond, Giannis, Hayward, PG13, Mitchell, etc.

Reddish is probably that guy if he eliminates / addresses 2-3 of his weaknesses, just because his offensive ceiling is so high and he's a really smooth athlete at his size. I was being critical of him above but he likely will be the #1 pick if he shows marked improvement at Duke.

You would also get a lot of people saying Doumbouya's, given his age. I watch his film and he's just 16-17 year old Paul Pierce.

I also am really high on Little. He has the Collin Sexton type competitiveness, NBA athleticism, improving range.....I think he has the highest floor of any of the guys in the top 5 (today). The compactness of his jumper for his size and skillset is incredibly rare. It's just tough for me to envision a guy with his explosiveness and jumper not being successful at the next level.

Next year's draft is absolutely loaded with NBA wing prospects. At this point, there isn't a clear cut #1 choice but it does seem to be a draft where the top tier will cover 5-6 picks.....so as long as you are in that bottom 6 teams, you're going to get a guy who can be the best player in the draft.

I don't think next year is as weak as others but it does currently lack a bonafide, typical year #1. Most of the guys have question marks that need addressed but are good prospects still at this point.

Reddish and Barrett both have potential but I really hate drafting wings that have somewhat suspect handles and very average creation skills. I'm hoping both show significant development at Duke in both categories. Barrett is a bit better than Reddish in both departments but neither show that type of off the dribble moves that will immediately be successful at the next level IMO.

That's why at this point I tend to lean towards guys like Nassir Little, who is an NBA athlete with shooting touch and an above average handle that has gotten better. Out of all the guys I have watched extended tape on, he's who I would take #1 at this point.
Here's a video.
This kid just turned 18 in June. I'm all on the hype train.

Guess this is what we have to look forward to again... yay :culpability:

I like Reddish, Barrett, and Hunter. Either them would make a good addition next to Sexton. I like Hunter because he's such a good defender. I don't think I like Williamson; I think he's more of a hype train than anything. Little bit undersized for my liking.

Question for the board. If you you're trying to build a starting lineup for the future, do you factor in Rodney Hood and instead look for a SF? Luckily it seems like they can all play the wing, but I've seen more people like Barrett as a 2 than a 3.

Better vision than I thought, but his handle is kind of loose and high. Looks more like a 3 (or even a 4) than a natural SG.

He will tighten up the handles and shot. I personally like his shooting form and think he will be a damn good pro.

What I love about Barrett is his willingness to move off ball and his finishing ability. It is not strength based like most high schoolers. He will hit you with the spin, floater, switching hands, euro step, power dunk, up and under. His footwork and IQ are off the charts IMO. Defense isn't bad either. He is very vocal on and off the court. Definitely a willing leader.

Id give anything to secure him next year. Luckily you will see a guy like Reddish fighting for that #1 spot, so as long as we can land top 2. We should be good.

I was actually just talking about Bennett with my cousin last week. Bennett is what people hoped Wiggins would become someday....already. Add in the NBA training, good coaching & this kid will be a stud. Everything you want young guys to work on, he already has.

Right now, it seems like a lot of his strengths are more typical of a great PF prospect than a great SG/SF prospect, but maybe he'll start to look more at home on the perimeter over the next year.

Lol, the dude looks like Elfrid Payton no?

Yeah, I try to imagine him getting to the rim at the NBA level with any of those ISO / dribble moves and it seems like he'd just get stonewalled. He makes more sense to me as a 3/4 but most list him as a SG. He'd have to significantly improve his handle to be a combo guard. He does have what appears to be great lateral movement on defense though.....so if Barrett is a plus defender, that raises his ceiling a notch.

I don't love Reddish's dribble either to this point but it is at least a bit lower / tighter and his movement off the dribble isn't super explosive but it is controlled / smooth. And you have to believe his mechanics will take hold and he'll be a more consistent shooter as he gets stronger.

I still watch Little's film and he just jumps out (today), when compared to the other wings in this class. He's just so bouncy. His second and third jump looks elite and his effort and length would lend to him having some serious defensive upside. His floor just looks so high to me. It's so rare to have a guy that athletic, with refined jumper mechanics.

The stage we are in I'm taking best player available. I think especially at the wing positions where players are becoming almost interchangeable between the 2, 3 and 4.

I wish he was a bit bigger but Romeo Langford has above average athleticism and looks like his handle and jumper have some promise. Now, he could end up being Ben Mclemore, but he is one to watch and keep tabs on.

Nassir Little plays with some anger, is athletic and he likes to rebound and defend. He reminds me of (pre crazy) young Ron Artest and Draymond Green. He def loves to slash. Not sure about his jumper and handle yet, but maybe the player everyone wanted Kid-Gilcrest to be. With Little you would probably want to pair him with another wing who is a really good shooter, because I am not sure he is ever going to be "great" but his jumper is not horrid, and he could easily play the 4 too in the modern NBA

The wing from France is def worth monitoring. He is super long, athletic and has a nice jumper. He is young, raw but if you are looking for high upside down the road he fits the bill

Is there video evidence of RJ Barrett being able to shoot a jumper? Because I'm having very serious Wiggins flashbacks.
