2020 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Joe Thomas has discussed this before for offensive linemen as a measure of explosiveness. I believe the jumps, the 10 yard split, and the 3-cone have specifically been mentioned by him in evaluations of athletic testing for the big fellas.

Hilariously enough, there does seem to be a correlation between a 40 and being a good OL, too.

But yeah, the split and 3 cone are also very big for offensive linemen. Height also has a weird correlation I've heard, but I haven't seen anything written about that to put any credence into it.

That isn't my nickname for LSU. The SEC has called them Defensive Back U. when Corey Webster starred there and went on to be the best DB for some very good NY Giants teams.

The Urban Meyer Era at OSU probably eclipsed LSU. That said, aside from our newest Browns cornerback they produced Eric Reid, Pat Pat, Honey Badger, Morris Claiborne, Jalen Mills, Brandon Taylor of the Chargers, and a number of other players who were pretty damn good DBs.

OSU has to show that they are still churning out top DBs now that Meyer is gone.
It really depends on which time period you choose.

There was a 5 year period starting near the end of Tressel's tenure and ending a couple years into Meyer's tenure where LSU (and many others) easily produced more DB talent.

But if you look at more recently, OSU probably has the edge. And if you reach back further...say, the last 25 years...then you're talking about Shawn Springs, Antoine Winfield, Ahmed Plummer, Nate Clements, Chris Gamble, Donte Whitner, Malcolm Jenkins...and those are just the 1st round guys.

Its just an insanely bad take to say skip a QB and hope and pray your schedule is so brutal you somehow end up with a chance at landing Trevor Lawrence.

That’s not how this works.

Imagine saying this as a Browns fan after the last three seasons.

Actually, I wasn't. You really need to learn to read and think clearly if you're going to post on a forum with the frequency that you do. It could almost be labeled as trolling.

I liked Baker Mayfield. I posted as much frequently throughout the collegiate season and during the CFP. I had a lot of positives to say regarding him. Admittedly, I thought Sam Darnold was going to end up better because of his tools and the things he was being asked to do in the USC offense.

All of these players were projections. My fear with Baker wasn't his talent--it was that he would have to adjust from a spread system built on misdirection against Big 12 defenses. As accurate as he was, he was throwing to wide open receivers. I had no idea how much he was tasked with setting protections. No idea how he'd adapt to being under center as a 6'0 QB. Nor did you or anyone else--because there isn't a way to know if we aren't in the meeting rooms. It's not like I was adverse to taking him at all--I drafted him for the Dophins in the 2018 RCF Mock for crying out loud.

There was hope that he'd be able to acclimate given his rumored football IQ. However, there was still a lot to project. To his credit, he did it at a rate that no other quarterback has ever done from a college spread.

You always like to say you were right on a given player. However, like Hue Jackson, if you simply hype everyone with reckless abandon based on nothing other than hype and what the television tells you, this is where you end up.

Now, this is the 2020 prospect thread. I highly suggest we move back to discussing 2020 prospects rather than our prized young QB.

That was my issues with Baker too, but I wasn't high on him, although he is closer to 6'1 than 6.0, one of my issues with Kyler.

But to be fair, you said faster than anyone? Well really the adjustment from Big 12 spread offense against horribly awful bad defenses of the Big 12 has not only taken awhile to adjust, it had never been done before.

Then comes Mahommes and Baker from last season. First to do the Big 12 jump successfully, now Kyler is getting over drafted and the Big 12 will no longer be consider a black hole for QB's

And kudos to you for sticking with Baker even having the knowledge how hard the jump was, should have learned my lesson with Brees, but we all know I am hard headed, lol. (also clearly arm strength is everything, that's why I was Leaf over Manning nation too)

Getting back on track, LSU is Defensive Back U. these days. Safety Grant Delpit and cornerback Kristian Fulton are the best coming out next year for the Tigers.

LSU defensive back vs OSU defensive back? Both have allot of pro bowlers recently

I will say its nice to see the Browns hedged their bets and now have one of each.

Imagine saying this as a Browns fan after the last three seasons.

Imagine being a guy who thought picking Baker Mayfield was a fucking horrible idea and then turning around and saying you shouldn’t take a QB at the top of a class when you get your chance to.... because next years guy “MIGHT” be better.

Imagine...

By your logic, the Browns should have taken Trubisky instead of Garrett and missed out on a stacked QB class the following season.

My or anyone else's initial reaction to Mayfield is irrelevant when discussing your argument. I'm happy to have been wrong on Mayfield. I'm also ecstatic that the Browns took the great building block player the year before rather than force a lesser pick just to get a QB for the sake of drafting a QB.

Or by my logic Trubisky’s final season was not worthy of the #1 pick...

That’s not to say any of the QB’s in the 2020 class won’t be.. and if you pass on them because you want the guy next year. Yikes.

This post is just a bunch of non-committal hypothetical beliefs. I'll leave you to your sadness of losing Joe Schobert in the future.

It seems this is supposed to be about me, but I can’t tell for certain as it’s grossly false, entirely inaccurate, and abandons all sense of reason.
