22nd and 37th Pick Discussion

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I've said for months that I would love Cordy Glenn with #22, but I doubt he will be there. I initially hated Richardson with the #4, but upon hearing some people mention him as the best RB prospect since Marshall Faulk, I am warming up to the idea.

If the Browns do not go with Richardson with #4, put me down for David Wilson out of V.T. with pick #37. I think he has a good shot at being a #1 running back, he's a guy with his head on straight, and people have been quiet about him leading up to the draft.

This is part of the reason I wouldn't be too upset if we passed on Richardson. I love Trent, I was leery at first but he's grown on me a lot. I keep flip flopping between who I'd prefer between him and Claiborne. At this point, I think Trent would have a more tangible effect on the team immediately, but Claiborne is probably the safer pick. If we did pass on Trent this draft is absolutely loaded at the RB spot. I love Doug Martin, think he's going to be a total stud. He's not the only one I like though, Wilson, Pead, LaMichael, all have the potential to be homeruns at the next level.

If we did grab Trent, I wouldn't be opposed to snagging someone like LaMichael in the 3rd as a change of pace back. As much as our offense needs an overhaul, I think we'll probably go defense at at least one of the first 3 picks.

This offense lacks a feature back, adding a "change of pace" back just isn't going to cut it IMO.

If you pass on Richardson, you better be grabbing Doug Martin or David Wilson at 22/37.

I don't think it's feasible to go into this seaso with Hardesty and Brandon Jackson as your feature backs.

I would have LOVED LaMichael James if we kept Hillis. That would have been a great combination. Hardesty and James, not so much.

How about Richardson, Hardesty and James?

I was talking about adding LaMichael in addition to Trent, not alone.

I'm actually cool with that. Even though Richardson's skill set is so great you don't need a complimentary back, it's not the worst idea in the world. Having a back who could save Richardson a few carries a game could potentially elongate his career and effectiveness. Other pressing needs tho, can get a back like him next year if you wanted to or find lower round value guys who could possibly fill the role.

No RB, besides Richardson, should be taken in the first round.

Doug Martin begs to differ.

I would kill for:

Richardson, Glenn, Lavonte David

I think we'll end up going something like:

Richardson, Martin, Randle.

4 Richardson
22 Kendal Wright
37 Lavonte David

4 Claiborne
22 Martin / Wright
37 Randle / Wilson

While it's been popularly mocked, I can all but guarantee the Browns won't be going with Jonathan Martin or Kendall Wright at 22.

I will pass on David Wilson at RB. A dream would be Cordy Glenn at 22. Then a WR at 37.

Also want later : QB Kirk Couins from Michigan State and WR Marvin McNutt from Iowa.

Claiborne, J. Martin/Glenn, Jeffery/Randle

I like that people blame Jordan Jefferson for Randle's struggles yet fail to mention Jeffery had a drunk throwing him the ball at USeC.

Edit: One more thought - people are advocating taking Fleener with 22 but don't want Jeffery at 37 because he "might turn into a TE". He put up 148 yards on 4 catches in one half in the Capital One Bowl, simply abusing one of the top CBs in this draft.

in my opinion Jeffery is a mid to late first round without the weight issues. does Heckert like him I don't know but I think he can be a pretty good wide receiver in the league under the right direction

I'd draft Alshon in the second. As a guard.
