#8: Justin Gilbert, CB, Oklahoma State University

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Amazing. I'm sure that the meeting was in the hotel the team was staying in. How could you possibly be late?

They were all out with Johnny all night at his party. You cant make this stuff up.

The Johnny Effect.

Late night Moxie rubbing off on his teammates in year one.

This is typical behavior for established players at the end of a season which failed to make the playoffs. However, rookies like Manziel and Gilbert have a lot to prove at the NFL level. They aren't the type of established starters who can afford to half ass the last game of the year. I'm sure talent evaluators aren't completely sure they belong in the NFL.

It may sound like a double standard, but I am glad the franchise has called out rookies who are displaying a sense of entitlement they haven't earned.

Amazing. You have 2 veterans publicly call you out about shit like this, you publicly acknowledge that you want to prove them wrong, and you keep doing shit like this.

If the rumors are true, Johnny needs to get shipped out. Ridiculous.

You guys need to relax. Rookie corners just take time to adjust to the pro level. Joe Haden didn't start until near the end of his rookie season!

Incredible. What is wrong with these young guys?

To me right now, it isn't even about on-field performance.

He just got called out publicly by 2 very well respected vets, vowed to prove them wrong & turn things around, and was late to a team meeting a few days later.. he needs to get his head out of his ass right now.

I was being sarcastic towards b00bs and monix. Took a ton of flack from them all season from voicing my displeasure of Gilbert.

I still think he can turn it around play wise, there's literally no reason he can't, as long as he gets his head on straight & applies himself in practice, etc..

yep. there were a lot of posters calling him out this season and I just didnt see it. But i still think he can be another very good CB on the other side from haden. He has the talent and physical tools but he needs to buckle down and mature.

hopefully he does because this team needs him.

Depends on what you look for. Haden really bombed his combine drills and was considered "slow" by some. However his game tape has always been fantastic.

Gilbert struggled his junior year but was really great his senior and sophomore year, and his combine performance was incredible.

I would say that Haden showed better, more refined skills, but Gilbert is the better long term prospect. I would probably take Haden over Gilbert, but it's close.

I was never high on the Gilbert pick because of this reason... I hate guys that shoot up the board after the combine... Big deal, he is fast.... watch the game tape. Dennard and fuller were vastly superior players in college.

I still have high hopes for Gilbert. The skills and measurables are there and I believe he has excellent teachers there in Pettine, Glenn, O'Neil, Haden, Whitner.

Hopeful that Gordon is gone and Gilbert is smart enough to start hanging out with the guys on his side of the ball like Whitner, Dansby, etc. instead of his draft day press conference buddy JFF.

He can still absolutely justify his selection by becoming consistent/above average next year and then in years 3,4,5 being an upper echelon corner on a rookie deal opposite Haden.

He was certainly a disappointment this year but our success/failure should was never going to be predicated by a rookie CB.

what the hell are you talking about? gilbert was always listed with fuller as the top 2 CBs in the draft. always. this is revisionist history all the way.

gilbert was number 1 in INTs his last year in college, and number 2 in INTs the year before that. to say it was his combine that shot him up in the draft boards is ridiculous
