We are probably the only team that they hav(will) faced that Curry has no one to be hidden from defensively. Kyrie will make him work, JR will make him work, and Lebron will kill him. Unless Kerr makes him guard TT, he will expend energy guarding people on our team.

Yes, that is a huge reason why Kyrie will be important. Sure, I'm a little worried about how he will come in and impact the defensive flow we have been in, but it is going to be important to make Steph tired on defense. If he has to guard Kyrie, Kyrie is the best at getting to the hole. Even when he was hurt he could (just had trouble finishing). And you always have to respect the three.

So far, Steph has barely had to guard anyone. Against the Rockets, all you have to do is contest Terry from the perimeter, he isn't going to take you to the rim much. Prigioni isn't an offensive threat. If we played Delly more, it would be much easier for him to save energy on defense because he just has to contest a three here or there. Kyrie would make him work hard though.

We get Steph tired on defense, it's going to make his life harder on offense and we won't see him dropping 40 so much. Could be critical to our success.

if kyrie guards steph we will be in big trouble, curry will average 30 5 6
Thats the point. Curry is gonna score points regardless. Irvings only job defensively would be to ensure that curry doesnt hit any open threes. that he can do. then you can get help underneath when curry drives.

I'm not sure it that simple. GSW run a ton of screens for Curry and Kyrie struggles fighting through screens. Hopefully Kyrie is up to the task of trying, though.

so your gonna run a screen on a team that has become proficient at switching to put your star player in a less beneficial position with the end result of of curry being guarded by a better perimeter defender.

Like mention, Curry is going to score, we have to accept that. Kyrie can't literally just leave him open like Houston has, he just has to keep him honest. I am not as worried about Kyrie guarding him.

We just need Kyrie to be Kyrie offensively. If Kyrie is being himself offensively, then Curry's offense can be nullified since Kyrie is capable of matching him point for point. That's all we really want.

If Curry is going for 40, and Kyrie can only give us 15, then yeah, we are in big trouble.

Unless you ask LeBron to put all of his focus on defending Curry every minute they are on the floor, Curry is going to get buckets. I hope our plan is to crowd him behind the arc and taking our chances with him attacking the rim, the lesser of the 2 poisons - but this is likely what every opposing team tries to do to the Warriors and fails. The kid is going to get his, just take out the other players and make him beat you on his own. The Warriors are going to be ridiculously difficult to beat, but I'm thankful we likely will have the better coach on the court and can hopefully get them out of playing their game.

Not necessarily a switch, but they set screens so he can get space to shoot all the time. Kyrie has always struggled to get around screens, so I think this will be an issue for us.

The reason that strategy is not effective is because Curry is a phenomenal passer and Golden State's interior players are fast as hell. The only way to beat Golden State is too contain Curry in a man-to-man system. Both LBJ and Shump can do that but it won't be easy.

Curry hits 31% on tightly contested shots and 43% on open ones these playoffs. So guarding him really well helps. He is not JR Smith or even Kyrie who often shoot better contested shots.

I have a lot of hope for this series given their struggles against Memphis. We play better defense than Memphis, and we don't have the problem of not having someone who can score at will. Will not be surprised if we beat them, even in our hobbled state.

Don't think it will be a cakewalk though.
