The Cavs vs Bulls Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Albeit this may be the wrong thread for it, I see the following teams in front of the Heat:
Cavs, Wiz, Hornets, Raps, Pacers, Bulls, Hawks, Knicks, Nets, and maybe even the Pistons. I'd say that Shabaz Napier needs to be ROY for them to make the playoffs.

We can take this offline so we don't derail the thread. Time will only tell. But, A core of players that understand a system with a Wade, Deng, Bosh trio is easily worth 40 wins. The team will also be playing with a chip on its shoulder to prove that they weren't all Lebron.

People forget how good Chris Bosh is and I have a feeling he will be reminding them this year.

I still stand by what I said, Wade or Bosh will have to miss significant time for that to be a lottery team. Barring injuries I expect them to fall into the 5-7 range.

LeBron James: Bulls 'much better'

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Less than two weeks before their first regular season meeting, LeBron James believes the Chicago Bulls are better than his Cleveland Cavaliers.

The two teams play Monday night in a preseason game at Ohio State University. The Cavs are calling it their most important preseason game, not just because they're facing a potential Eastern Conference rival but because James, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving will start together for the first time against an NBA team.

"[The Bulls] are a team that's much better than us right now just off chemistry," James said. "They've been together for awhile, we've got a long way to go."

James has faced the Bulls in the playoffs three times in the past five years, once with the Cavs and twice with the Miami Heat. He has a long history not only against Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah but also coach Tom Thibodeau, who designed the defense against James in two playoff series when Thibodeau an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics.

The Cavs recently had a weeklong trip to Brazil where they focused on bonding. And while there's also been a focus from James and some of the veterans like Mike Miller and Shawn Marion to mentor the younger players, James freely admits the Cavs are not battle-tested like the Bulls.

And he doesn't think such chemistry will come from preseason games or team dinners.

"You've got to go through something to create a bond; that means for the worse," James said. "We've got to lose ballgames that we think we should've won, we've got to get into an argument every now and then just to test each other out."

James is speaking from experience. When he joined the Heat in 2010, that team struggled significantly out of the gate and started the season 9-8. There were chemistry issues and friction in the locker room. After that difficult first month, however, the Heat won 21 of 22 games and ended up reaching the Finals.

He's not predicting such struggles for the Cavs in the early going, but he said Monday that he's expecting adversity.

"It has to happen. I know it is going to happen," James said. "A lot of guys don't see it, but I see it. That's the only way we're going to be able to grow. You don't define yourself during the good times, you define yourself through the bad times. That's for the players and the coaching staff as well."

Overall the Cavs have played well in the preseason, going 4-1 to this point, but they haven't had much time to test their new lineup. Irving missed three games with a sprained ankle, Love skipped a game to rest a sore neck and James took a game off to rest his back.

Monday's preseason game will be the first time that Irving, James and Love will play together against an NBA team.

"We haven't had the opportunity to see them all together as yet," Cavs coach David Blatt said.

"I have an idea in my mind, I have a feeling about it. Is that tried and true? Up to this point, honestly it's not. ... But I see them at practice and I obviously know the players, their skill-set and their basketball IQ and their willingness to play together, so I'm pretty optimistic about it."

Lol at Bulls fans using this as a moral victory. They don't even care they lost. They're to busy circle jerking over the fact that Irvings points came on Brooks than they are about Rose scoring 30 himself. Lmao what a bunch of clowns

the cavs guard cant guard rose one-on-one. but our frontcourt has limited pau gasol. and pau gasol cant guard varejao.

Rose looked great tonight. It's fair to say he's not going to hit 75% from the field and 80% from 3P in any 7 game stretch this year.

Also pretty fair to say Love is not going to shoot as poorly as he did tonight.

If the Bulls want to congratulate themselves for Rose being ready to start the beginning of an NBA season at full health, so be it. I don't think it gives them the ultimate edge in a 7 game series against the Cavs.

I do like their team though and freely acknowledge they are our biggest threat and rival in the Eastern Conference.

As a Maccabi fan I can tell you that Mirtotic is a good player but he never shows up for big games...
He is a natural born loser, it was that way in the last Euroleague final when Real madrid lost to Maccabi and it was that way 2 years ago when Real lost to Olympiakos. And coach Blatt knows him very well, and that is very bad for you as a player if you're playing against Blatt's teams...

if the bulls trot out a a line up of rose/butler/dunleavy/gasol/noah the cavs should just zone them. rose had a good shooting night but still has a hitch on his shot, butler is pretty good this preseason but is not a shooter and i wouldnt mind gasol/noah shooting midranged shots all night long.

Anyone notice the extra big lineup Blatt played for a small portion of the 4th quarter? Kyrie, LeBron, Marion, Love, and Tristan. Not sure how long they stayed don't the floor together and whether it was a preemptive move or a reactionary move to whatever lineup the Bulls had in at the time.

Was at the game tonight..Rose has regained that special 6th gear that makes him a monster to guard.. no doubt about it. I admit underestimating how good he might be because of how poorly he played this summer. His shooting, not worried about that. He got hot, it happens.

That being said, Kyrie easily matched Rose's production.. and oh ya, we still get to throw LeBron at you. And Love. Their vaunted front court caused some problems at times.. but for the most part, Andy dominated. Andy can hang with Pau and then some, IMO.

You never can take TOO much from a preseason game, but this game was as close to a game we can get a real read on as you're going to see in the preseason. There was a distinct lack of intensity to be honest.. as expected. But it was clear to me that once we gain that chemistry LeBron is talking about, (which includes learning to use Love better.. he was just floating much of the night, looking pretty out of place frankly. There is work to be done to get him properly incorporated.)..we will be clearly superior to the Bulls.

Looking forward to beating them in the playoffs in May.

So, about Rose being a shell...

If I recall correctly, Rose looked great last year in the pre-season too. We'll see if he can keep it up once Thibs starts playing him starter minutes.

Thibs only playing him starter minutes? That'd be a revelation.

Rose did freaking work last night... that said if he didnt make three 3 pointers in a row and had lebron on him, he would have looked a lot worse

but he did do work, so for now im a believer in im

I'm gonna go ahead and predict Rose gets another knee injury within the next 2 years. 1 is bad enough, but 2....2 just increases the odds extremely exponentially...

Not that I'm wishing it on him, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but that's how the human body reacts- and his doesn't like what he does to it. He's darting and twisting into the lane, that's crushing pressure on those ligament attachments. Dude is just asking for it. It'll be time to think about life after basketball- again. I'm sure he has a plan from his 1st 2 intermissions- this time it'll be time to put it into action.
