The Cavs vs Bulls Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, I just can't pick the Bulls in a 7-game series. They just need too much offense from guys that are 11-14 points a night guys. It's hard to have that kind of balance in the playoffs over a whole series and win 4 games. Come crunch time you just can't expect a guy like Jimmy Butler or Joakim Noah to do it night in and night out. The defense will be top notch, for sure, but they were routinely giving up 100 points a night to the Wizards in their series last year until that crazy game 5. This Cavs team can play sloppy and put up 105 points. I think the Bulls just can't keep pace.

That's a pretty spot on analysis Ollie. Any time James wanted to take it to the hoop, the Bulls had to foul him, they couldn't and cannot stop it. That's always a nice backup plan, give it to James to stuff it down their throat.

It's also amazing to have guys waiting in the wings who can easily get you 30 in a game.

Obviously Love is adjusting, but he's more than capable of a 30 point outburst.

Iv said it the whole offseason, I think we beat a healthy Bulls team in 5. The world thinks it's gonna Ben one great historic matchup but I just don't see it. They remind me of us in 2007. Defense is gonna win them most games and get them at least to round 2. But when the shit hits the fan and they need to score 90-100 points in the playoffs I don't have any idea how they'll do it.

IMO they have 2 people capable of a consistent 20 points. Rose and Gasol. Thing about Gasol tho we can put Andy and TT on him neutralize him. So that leaves Rose.

For the Bulls to beat us in 7 they'd have to get hot from 3 all series and they gotta get Rose and Gasol to go off every game. They would also have to get2 out of our big 3 to have bad nights in the same game.

Lets not get too cocky just yet.. Jimmy Butler their best wing defender (guy who gaurds lbj the whole game) was hurt and he is also probably the second best scorer on the team. From what I saw from him in pre season he looks like he could go toe to toe with waiters if not be even a tad bit better. He's lengthy and can score 20 a game. He scored 30 against the hornets the game before last night. I still prefer the bulls bench to ours slightly as well. In the end we will win in 7 games just from kyrie canceling out drose and we have a top 10 player ever to do the rest of the damage on them. But it will for sure be a close series if both teams are healthy

20 a game from Butler? Right.

Gasol is going to be that team's #2 scorer. Butler may come in around 15 a night on subpar efficiency. Terrific defender, but not a guy who will beat you offensively if you even acknowledge him. I actually see Noah being the 3rd leading scorer on that team. That could be a bit of a stretch, though.

The thing about this Bulls team is they can't make you pay if you put LeBron on Rose. In the past, they had Luol Deng who was a solid option in that scenario but he aged and eventually left.

I'm not afraid of Kyrie guarding an immobile white guy and I'm definitely not afraid of letting Jimmy Butler beat me.

Butler can take waiters to the post or a 1-3 pick and roll

So he can airball a fallaway jump shot? This isn't 2k where taller = easy fadeaway shot. Jimmy Butler is not a fantastic shooter standing still, square to the basket, with no one pressuring him.

If Jimmy Butler is the best the Bulls can manage, they are in some deep, deep trouble against us. He is a terrific defender though.

Pau Gasol will not he a big factor this year. He is an overpaid, well past his prime big who used to he a star.

Dion has been VERY good against bigger guards who try to beat him with their back to the basket. He's limited Joe Johnson (in my mind, the best player not named Kobe at doing this) in these situations every time they've played.

If Chicago wants to run their scheme to get Jimmy Butler Iso'd with his back to the basket from mid range, they can be my guest.

A 1/3 pick and roll? That plays directly into the Cavs' strengths defensively. If the game is on the line, LeBron is on Rose. Your pick and roll, assuming the defense switches, leaves LeBron on Butler and Dion on Rose. Assuming Dion gets help like every other player who takes that assignment, the Bulls running that pick and roll doesn't do a whole lot other than take LeBron off Rose for 4-5 seconds at a time.

I didn't even have to utter the words, "Shawn Marion," in how the Cavs can defend what you describe.

Can he, though? I've seen plenty of bigger guys try to back Waiters down with no success. The kid may be a bit undersized, but he's built like a brick shithouse.

Joe Johnson with the game on the line in the opener last year. 6'7, 240, couldn't move Dion an inch on the block, Cavs win.

I'll never understand how these athletes are dumb enough to do things like that to their own teammates. Not only is it a dick move, but it's basically bound to screw up the locker room too.

This is what happens when you have Thibs as a coach. Sure, he'll get an amazing record out of you and you can bet your ass he's going to make your players give everything they've got. but he will also absolutely run his players into the ground to get the most out of them, regardless of their injury history, age or mileage. I just don't see how the Bulls stay healthy this year.
