The Cavs vs Bulls Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Thib's is overrated as fuck. And he's absolutely responsible for running his players into the ground. He's totally derailed all of these guys over the years. Bulls should have moved on already.
His teams massively overachieve year in and year out, except for this season.

Thibs is an old school coach. Old school coaches played their starters/stars heavy minutes.

In the regular season, they surely do overachieve. That's been their mantra the last 4 years. Overachieve in the regular season and lose in the 1st round. Why do people think that's a good thing?

Sad enough, there are franchises out there that would love to have a season like that right now.

The thing is they aren't underachieving in the playoffs. There is only so much he can accomplish before the difference in talent catches up.

And then they flip the switch. I really hate this years Bulls team, they are impossible to read. With that said, I think this whole coasting thing will come back to bite them in the ass.

They're just not good enough.

They scored 89 points tonight. The Cavs have scored at least 98 points (in regulation) in all 4 regular season meetings with the Bulls this year. If the Bulls score 89 points against the Cavs, they're going to lose.

I just can't get pumped up about playing the Bulls. I just don't see a way they can beat us in a series. 32 points in a half isn't going to work.

In the 2nd half, they turned it on, both offensively and defensively. And offense isn't even our issue this season.

Not directly saying they were coasting this season, but it's somewhat implied here too:

The Bulls played better defensively in the second half, but the Heat missed a TON of shots. The Heat also built their lead thanks in large part to Michael Beasley, which, as we've all seen, isn't the most reliable thing to count on.

If i'm a Chicago fan, then i'm concerned with this kind of attitude coming from the players themselves.

This isn't the San Antonio Spurs we're talking about where you can turn it off or on whenever you want and plow your way to the finals. San Antonio can do that--they have the experience to know when and where.. as you can tell by their last three games demolishing two of the top three teams in the West as a sixth seed. And by their five NBA championships, six conference titles, and eleven division titles within the past fifteen years.

We're talking about an Eastern Conference team that has been eliminated six times out of nine total playoff appearances in the first round within the last eleven years.

But whatever, talk is cheap. Let's see what happens.

I completely agree. I think this type of thinking should only be reserved for groups that have already won a title, but it is what it is.

The problem the Bulls have is that too often they have a long stretch where they just don't score at all. Then they make a run, but against good teams you can't fall so far behind and be able to come back (just like the Cavs last time they played in Atlanta). You're not going to outscore a good team by 15-20 points in 24 minutes. It's so difficult to even do that to the worst team in the league.

The offense isn't really the problem, it's been the defense all year.

Statistically, you're right. But if you watch the games, the offense is a problem for long stretches.

Bulls getting the 3rd seed would be better. If the got the 4th and ended up beating Washington/Atlanta that means they are on there A+ game and Rose is playing at a high level
