The Cavs vs Bulls Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
But when you send a 60% ugly shooter like noah to the line, you're messing with his mind and confidence and that has an immediate impact on his percentage in a way that it usually drops even more with this strategy, and we can always use guys from the 3rd lineup for that...

Hes a d bag. He would blame his shooting on Cleveland being a crapy city.

I would so love to see this!!!
can someone convey the message to coach Blatt?

He's a career 70% ft shooter, I think the strat would be likely to backfire. It's probably a safer strat against players with career ft % of 50% or less.

I never agreed with the hack-a-whoever strategy. If a guy shoots 50% from the line, it is the equivalent of shooting 50% from the field. On top of that you get guys to add fouls to their totals.
Incorrect. That would be.5 pps vs 1pps, should they shoot fifty percent from each

If they want to play an ugly physical game then so be it, as long as we beat them. We've got people like Mozgov who isn't afraid to slam someone and of course there's LeBron.

Also they might consider not taking it too far since their leader is the most injury prone player in the whole damned league. If things get ugly then he's got close to a 50% chance of busting his spleen or something.

And on the flip side of all of this, beating Chicago, then the Hawks and then winning in the finals would be a glorious achievement befitting of the Cavaliers first championship in forever. And no one could talk any bullshit about how we had a free ride over here in the East. Those 2 matchups+the finals would be the toughest road anyone would have to take.

PPS doesn't matter, you get 2 shots every trip anyways. Going 2/4 from the foul line gets you 2 points on two trips, the same as going 1/2 assuming you take a 2 point field goal

I can't see him being a 70% shooter right now though. That knee surgery has really messed up any sort of offense of his.

I guess we are already looking past the Celtics series. Hopefully the Cavs themselves are not doing the same. :)

Any thoughts on the Bulls now that a couple of playoff games have been played? Haven't really watched the games but it seems like Butler has been good.

Better than the regular season. I'd say the Bulls have somewhat better chances than I predicted before. Had the Bulls losing in 5, think they can take it to 6, maybe 7 if they play their cards well.

-They're rebounding very well. It was a concern going into the playoffs, but they're getting it done
-Noah isn't a negative. He's back to playing defense and rebounding. He can't finish worth a damn anymore, but at least he can do something
-Rose is playing out there and contributing. Very rough first half for him tonight, but he found ways to contribute and later found his shot in the 2nd half
-Butler is playing like a true star. Dominating on D and then killing it on offense. Doubt he stays this hot on offense, but he can definitely get points

I'd like to highlight the defending the most. After that bad 1st quarter/1st half in game 1, they have truly turned it on. Rose and Butler's efforts have been particularly great from start to finish, which wasn't there in the regular season. The weakness remains Gasol though.

At the end of the day, the Cavs will likely just out-talent the Bulls, but it is certainly a much better team than the one showing up in the regular season.

Bull rebounded great tonight, but it must be acknowledged that when one team shoot 36% for the game and the other team shoots 38% for the game, there are a hell of a lot of rebounds to grab.

Butler is a huge factor against teams and players like this. But that factor is negated by LeBron in a series against the Cavs. Yes Butler will make him work hard, but LeBron is going to get his regardless. And with Butler on LeBron, I'm not sure Dunleavy can get it done chasing JR around the court and through screens.

Agree that Butler is a star now though. Bulls should make him the focus of the offense, even with a healthy Rose. It would at least breed a consistency so that the next time Rose does go down(or if he just can't maintain his past type of play over long stretches), their offense doesn't have to revamp.

I wasn't all that impressed.
What happened is Chicago out-talented the Bucks.

Milwaukee came with a specific gameplan and stayed in this game up until the very end.
The pushed the pace, and all of their sets included quick handoffs, cuts and multiple screens, exploiting Pau's slow feet and the general miscommunication on D. Moving the ball around quickly, cutting and then popping back out, quick handoffs gets Chicago's D confused and unable to keep pace and the Bucks got a TON of buckets that way.

On offense they played their regular game. Rose was nothing spectacular, Butler had it going and Dunleavy got them their spacing as you would expect. IMO nothing the Cavs can't handle.

While it is true that with a lot of missed shots there are a lot of rebounds to go around, the Bucks were held to only 9 offensive rebounds. The lowest offensive rebound per game average this season was 8.9, so they held them to that low number despite all the boards available to grab. This is going to be huge for the Bulls against the Cavs, they absolutely cannot give you guys second chance opportunities.

While it is true that you can put Lebron on Butler and likely limit him, the advantage created is that Lebron is no longer the guy on Rose.

The offense is good the way it is, Rose is still the better offensive talent and Butler is always capable of stepping up when needed. The offense wasn't really a problem this season. It was the defense.

I am more concerned about game 1 Bulls than game 2 Bulls. The Bucks missed a shit ton of open layups.

I'm starting to feel that this series will be like the Boston series in 2010 - whoever wins will head to the NBA Finals. LeBron will be challenged as a leader and a competitor by a team full of talented vets that simply are not afraid of him.

It's going to be a good one.
