ECF: Cavs 4 - Hawks 0

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It would be incredibly satisfying if we were the ones to end their streak.
If we are the ones to end their streak, it means they blew by the Lakers record of 33 in a row since we don't play them again for over a month.

Fellas- Does home-court advantage count for nothing? Beware the hubris!
Funny you should say that because it actually doesn't as much as it used to. Both Zach Lowe and Tom Haberstroh had reports out this week that for the first time in history this season, road teams are winning more often than home teams.

lol @ people not scared of a team thats like 32-3 in the last 35.

gimme a break. thats a 73-74 win season if they didnt start out shitty.
Winning streaks themselves mean very little come playoff time, other than just the overall style of play of the team. There have been teams with similar streaks that have won the title that year. Others have flamed out in the first or second round, like when the Rockets won 22 straight about 6 years ago.

Windy made a good point the other day. He said in talking with a lot of scouts around the league, most believe that the way the Hawks play, if you have 3 or so days to prepare for them, or better yet play them multiple times in a row, their style of play is easily beatable.

Translation: They are really tough to beat in the regular season right now because no team has enough time to prepare for them. But in the playoffs, they should be able to be neutralized with a relatively good game plan.

So does Ferry get executive of the year?
It's funny to think about. But even if he didn't get ousted for racism, he wouldn't win anyway. They didn't make any significant changes this year, and he didn't do anything magical within this season to improve them. This core has been together for awhile. To me, it seems Executive of the Year is a guy who made changes that made an immediate impact.

On the other hand, Coach Budenholzer is going to unanimously win Coach of the Year, as far as I'm concerned.

True. Plus they play the Warriors next week, which should be a good game, but I think they'll lose.

What the Hawks are doing reminds me of the '07-'08 Rockets. That team won 22 straight games (55 total) then lost in the 1st round.

Now, I don't think the Hawks are gonna lose to the Nets or the Hornets...but they will be a 2nd round exit. Take it to the bank.

The Hawks of both old and new cannot stop the talents of LeBron Raymone James.

Don't kid yourselves, LeBron is motivated by weird shit.

Bron is going to start taking pride in this Cavaliers team if/when this defensive trend continues to be for real.

If this fire is lit, and Kevin gets this rest; and we can use the last stretch of our season to get his ass properly incorporated; we're going to be a scary team and NOBODY is going to want to play us now that we have our reinforcements and chemistry brewing.

We could be in the midst of a genuine culture shift fellas, getting Dion out of the locker room and bringing in a brawler like Mozgov has truly shifted the entire attitude of the team. Not saying it's all on Dion, but his excommunication marks a shift in this basketball team.

This is all about timing. The Hawks are bound to cool off, and if

the Cavaliers can keep up this defense, Bron will bust his ass for this team.

The Hawks are the hot topic, but Bron will not forget; that the Hawks have never defeated him, and if this Cavs team gets Bron's full effort, and if this Cavs defensive thing is truly for real......

We have the best timing and talent to come out of the East.

The only thing that could fuck us up would be a matchup problem.

Washington's bigs, and Wall/Beal/Pierce torching us collectively could be formidable, but they lack bench depth. Plus Mike Miller is bound to hit a few 3's off the bench and swing a game, if not a series with his timely baskets.

But then again, if Kyrie's defense really is for real; maybe Wall won't kill us, and Beal could be checked by Shump; Bron kills Pierce, and hopefully Love can draw their bigs away so Kyrie and Bron have a perpetual lane to the basket against one defender, if they collapse, one pass and dude has an open rhythm 3.

Playoff Kyrie is going to be a fucking crazy thing to witness. God I remember Bron's first playoff series, to see the guy playing with that kind of youth, and elevated energy in that atmosphere he made some supernatural fucking plays. Kyrie's FIBA MVP game and the recent double nickel performance should clue you in to what uncle Drew is going to produce postseason.

We thought Boobie hitting 5 timely triples was incredible, so incredible that Daniel hung around and collected checks for 7 years. Now we have JR, who is EXTREMELY capable of replicating a performance like that. Add in Kyrie's shot making ability..... Mike Miller's history of hitting clutch shots.

Plus you have to think Love is ravenous to play in meaningful games, he's been waiting for 6 fucking years! to taste meaningful postseason play.

Nobody in their right mind should want to face this Cavaliers team if this ship is picking up steam, like it seems.

I fixed that for you :info (3):

Cleveland still doesnt scare me as long as kyrie and love dont learn how to play defense. They are however the best matchup to take out the raptors and the hawks.

And I prefer playing them 10 times out of 10 over a matchup with the hawks.
Quote from the Wizards board. I find it hilarious that they don't find us threatening. All we need is Lebron Ramone James and we'll smoke them.

Everybody thinks they're the best

So does Ferry get executive of the year?

I saw somebody post this on the HoopsHype NBA media twitter feed tonight, but almost all of Ferry's good moves were done two or three summers ago: Signing Millsap, Signing Korver, letting Josh Smith go, keeping Teague(there were rumors of swapping him for Jennings or Monta), finding Mike Scott, bringing in DeMarre Carroll, drafting Schroeder, hiring Bud.

Other than adding Thabo, he didn't really do much of note in the past 15 months to deserve consideration for the Exec of the Year for this season. Certainly deserves a ton of credit for what is happening in Atlanta though.

Yup, this is pretty much dead on. Those awards are focused on the current season, not a cumulative achievement.

Coach Bud will get CoY for sure, but Ferry or anyone else on that staff won't be getting the nod anyway. Not to mention the hot button issue of the voters not wanting to look like the support someone accused of racism. It'd be like a super watered down version of giving Sterling Owner of the Year or something. Nobody wants to put their name on that.

The Hawks are playing out of their minds at 40-8, but realistically, there are 6-8 games the Cavs should have won if the current team plays the season. We are more like a 36-13 than a 29-20. That would put us 2nd in the East. I am not that concerned about the Eastern Conference. I still think it is the Cavs to lose. We will end up with the 2 or 3 seed and roll from there. Beating LeBron James 4 times in 7 games is not going to be easy for anyone.
