A Potential Cavs vs Spurs Series

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The reason Miami struggled so much against San Antonio last year and even in 2013 was their defensive style played right into the Spurs hands. Their aggressive trapping style forced turnovers in Games 1 & 2 which kept it close, but they couldn't force TO's in the last 3.

Offensively, Miami was never a great offensive team. They got the most out of that team with their efficiency, but scoring in the 90's was typical for them. When they couldn't stop the Spurs, they just didn't have enough firepower to keep up offensively.

As far as what kills the Spurs, it's a great wing scorer and an explosive guard. Kawhi has to guard the wing scorer in that case and the guard can have great success. That's why the Thunder always caused them problems. Kawhi had to guard Durant, leaving Westbrook to go against Parker/Green.

In 2013, Wade played well and put a lot of pressure on them. In 2014, Wade played like shit and they couldn't score. That's why Kyrie will be so important. He would be able to put up numbers against the Spurs with Kawhi focused on LeBron. If Kyrie causes Pop to reconsider how to defend LeBron, the Cavs have a great shot. That's a big if though. You can't stop the Spurs. You just have to out score them. The Cavs can do that.

Good points, but I don't think the Heat were much worse, if worse at all than us offensively. They just averaged about a point less than us, while shooting a much better percentage. The Miami Heat had a VERY good offense. LeBron was a lot more efficient in Miami, than he has been with us at this point.

LeBron was surrounded by the endless amount of shooters the Heat had, plenty of floor spacing, making them virtually impossible to defend. The Spurs had no answer defending the Heat, at all, just like no one else did. Even with Wade being eh, here and there.

They won, because their offense just literally out willed the Heat. The best way to beat the Heat, is to use their aggressiveness on defense against them, and that's with great ball movement from side to side, with the ball going to the post a lot, minimizing their athleticism/movement. Smart passing, not making the risky play, and utilizing your size is how you beat the Heat LeBron era.

When they limited turnovers, they were able to score on them at will. That's the best offense for any fast attacking defense, is play hot potato with the basketball, and don't dribble the ball too much, and no one does it better than them.

We still have the same issues defensively, maybe even worse, than the Heat do. We simply can't guard them. They can have what they want offensively against us. They attack us really well on the pick and roll, knowing that's our weakness. It was a nightmare watching us trying to defend them on pick and rolls. We're not very good defending it at all.

It will come down to our offense vs their offense. And I agree, there's no one on the Spurs that can really guard Kyrie. He should and probably would have a big series against them. LeBron and Kyrie need to have a great series for us to beat them. Kevin Love needs to at least be a factor. He doesn't have to be huge, but he needs to hit open 3s.

Agree and disagree. The Heat had an efficient offense yes, but they always had trouble even scoring 100. Why? LeBron never played all that well with Wade. He played better offensively when Ray Allen filled Wades spot because Wade couldn't shoot. Then you had Chalmers and Cole at PG, who were almost always non-threats offensively. Rio had the ability to score, but was way too inconsistent to rely on. Last year he just sucked plain and simple. Then you look at the 4 spot. Battier was finished, Rashard Lewis was done, James Jones didn't play, and they had nobody else. Bosh was underused in Spo's offense and Spo never adjusted to get him more touches.

Spurs are just smarter and better....

Parker will dominate...

Boris Diaw would somehow, someway be a major pain in the ass...

Love would somehow be a non factor or look soft to some degree...

JR Smith screams game 7 Starks all series long...

For us to win, JR Smith will have to be better over 7 games than Danny Green, and Love will have to be better over 7 games than Diaw.

Plain and simple.

We know that Kyrie, LeBron, Parker, and Duncan will all play well no matter what. This series will be won by whose role players step up to the plate.

Love needs to prove his worth in the playoffs.

Oh shit---you're right. Do you think Kyrie can go 40+ for 4 out of 7?

Gun to my head - I'd say it'd be one hell of a series, but Spurs in 7 just on experience and coaching alone.

Duplicate- sorry.

Right now it's looking Spurs in 5 in my honest opinion

That team is a super team on steroids with re best coach of all time

Let's just hope our underdogs can make a series of it and shock the world

We will win it for all the men who were told they weren't good enough
