American Horror Story

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
SPOILERS

There's this interesting phenomena with a lot of Catholics where they absolutely cannot handle exorcism related stuff. My wife walked out of the room each time they showed the possessed kid, which was a lot. My wife loves the show, but she may bail if that trend keeps up. Sure seems like it might.

I've always been fascinated with demonic possession and serial killers...looks like this is gonna be a hell of a season.

That exorcism scene was maybe the best scene in the season plus of this show. Absolutely terrifying. Interesting back stories about Sister Jude and Lily Rabe's character.

Jessica lange is hot for her age. Say what you will.

Anyways, I thought they did a fantastic job with the possession scenes. Shit was freaky. I have an aunt that's helped with multiple exorcisms and shed never talked about It. Ive been curious to see one as an athiest.

Anyway, I'm on board with you guys that think keeping the cast was a good idea.

My wife hated they kept the cast, thought it was dumb and she really wanted to see how it played out this year in the old house. After the first episode she was taking all that back. We both love the fact they kept the same actors, quite honestly some of them are pretty damn amazing.

I think bringing back some actors has worked out wonderfully, but only because of who they brought back. They did it right. Bringing anyone back from the family would be dumb and they haven't done that. At least not yet and I hope they don't. Also I love Quinto's character because he brings balance to the show. We need at least one character in power who isn't insane.

A guess on the direction of the show:

The bald dude seems to be the ringleader, but I'm going to guess he is an actual pawn being controlled by something.

Badass show so far. Season 1 was delivered to my mailbox a couple days ago. Waiting for a shit day to marathon that.

I love that they used the same actors. I know the one guy from Modern Family, will be back, at some point.

I wonder if the demon passed through to the nun, when that boy died. Her fainting, and the cross moving, at the end of the episode, tells me that there might be some evilness that is in her.

Being Catholic and exorcisms seems to be something that the Catholic church believes in. It doesn't bother me, at all. I think it depends on the person, not necessarily their religious beliefs.

A lot of backside shots in that show.... :chuckles:

Man this show is great....nothing else even like it on TV.
-Jessica Lange looks exactly the same as she did in King Kong back in the late 70s; add to that she is a fantastic actress.
-I miss Connie Britton; I also wish that lame Nashville show with her and Hayden Panatierre was on showtime for the lesbo chance...
-Recycling the folks from last season takes BIG BALLS; and it looks like they're pulling it off.
-Zachary Quinto as an actor is really growing on me; we haven't seen this week's episode, but we're looking forward to it.
-It boggles my mind that Joseph Fiennes signed on to this TV show.
-James Cromwell? Outstanding. I want him to fucking de-glove someone in the lab, then say "That'll do, Pig. That'll do."

There are so many elements of the show that are a "I did not see that coming."

Not going to give away any spoilers, but last nights episode was fantastic. Zachary Quinto gets better and better.

The acting is outstanding across the board. Jessica Lange's soliloquy about the squirrel was amazingly heartfelt and perfect. The really great actors use a lot of subtleties to communicate what they're feeling, and she's as good as it gets. Just things as small as how much control she has over her face is very impressive. You could use her to teach a class. She's absolutely amazing. And yes, Quinto is becoming better and better too. His facial expressions remind me of that horrible smiling statue of Mary at the end of the intro.

I said it in the Walking Dead thread, but this is the ballsiest show I've seen on television. They do not pull ANY punches. They hint at things, sure, but they're not afraid to show them to you either. Dr Arden's surgery scenes and the nun's attack on the patient were good examples.

Absolutely hooked on this show. I've never been excited to watch a show this much week after week.

2 things:

2.

Zachary Quinto is quickly becoming the best actor of his generation; based totally on his TV roles on AHS and Heroes. Sylar is up there with the best villains of all time, and I thought Heroes was over-rated as a show.

Season ended. Surprised this thread died. Thoughts on how it closed? Really wanted to learn more about the aliens, and how they controlled some of the characters. However, feel it had the perfect blend of closure and what is left for the imagination.

Bump to get ready for the new season.

I wasn't a huge fan of how the last season closed out personally, I felt the show over-promised and under-delivered. The way the possessed nun went out was incredibly anti-climactic, as ultimately she didn't do much. Considering she was possessed by none other than the devil, I expected a lot more.

Same thing with Dr. Arden, his end was pretty pointless as well.

The story line of the two wives was fantastic, I was shocked how that played out. Similarly, the season conclusion was very good. But it seemed like a very ambitious season that had a lot of ended story lines that never actually served a purpose or reached a meaningful conclusion, and that was unfortunate.

Still, it's one of the most ambitious shows on cable TV, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they have in store this season.

I like the new season so far, but it doesn't feel scary or horrific.
