Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Still our best player so far this season.
Laughable.

He quickly went from one of the best post defenders and rebounders in the league, to below average in both categories. Only thing he can do well anymore is hit 15 foot jumpers. Otherwise he's worthless.

Yeah, he looks completely worthless out there tonight.

(That was sarcasm. I hope your post was also sarcasm.)

I'll steal Douglar's post from another thread, which sums up my opinion quite well:

I was at the game last night. Ran into some people from the Cavs organization in the elevator. Told them that it looked like only two of the players cared about basketball, Varejao and Dellavedova.

No one doubts Varejao's heart, but it definitely looks like his best days are behind him.
If this team continues to stagnate, it may not be a bad idea to trade him to a title contender at the deadline so he can try to win a championship.

Sure, his best days are probably behind him, but he's still out there every night playing winning basketball, and that's more than anyone else on this team can say. I can see people arguing that Kyrie's been better than him (although Kyrie's atrocious effort level at times makes that questionable), but who else?

Other than Kyrie, I'd say Tristan has the potential to be a better player than Andy ever was, even though he's struggling at the moment.

He has the potential for sure, but so far? I'd have to say it's Kyrie, then Andy, then...I don't even know who would come next.

"I just hate that I still get pimples," says Anderson Varejao, a center with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Mr. Varejao, 31, credits his wife with developing his skin-care routine. He applies Clinique's Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion twice a day, in the morning and after practice, and uses an antioxidant serum from SkinCeuticals called C E Ferulic, priced at $153 a bottle. (For his very curly hair, he uses a curl amplifier by Catwalk.) Varejao says of his routine: 'You need to take care of your face and your hair. It's what you show all the time.'

:gay:

I really liked Andy's overall approach tonight, but he fumbled some passes and blew some layups that could have put a further dent into Miami's lead. Sigh...
Here's to hoping for a winning streak soon!

In a chat today, Lloyd mentions that Andy is playing old and his trade value is low compared to last year. Lloyd believes the years of Andys' style of play may have caught up with him.

You mean Grant lost another asset that required skill in using? I won't believe that.

Bynum's getting a pass because he's coming off an injury. Bennett's getting a pass because he's coming off an injury. But somehow everyone's ignoring the fact that Andy's also coming off a major injury. That combined with the fact that he's far from a focal point in Brown's offense has limited Andy's production so far, but I expect him to gradually return to his high level of play from last season.

I completely disagree with Lloyd on this one. I think Andy has some typical Andy ball left in him. He didn't suddenly get old since last year...he hasn't even played much in the last year which is a big part of the problem. Like Bynum and Bennett, he came into camp not having played in a very long time and he wasn't in very good shape following his wedding festivities and spending a lot of time in Brazil. His weight is getting back down and the rust is coming off. I firmly believe Andy will hit his stride again soon and be the regular double-double energy guy we are used to seeing. This will help us win some more games and up his trade value again...hopefully he just doesn't get hurt.

For Andy, Bynum and Bennett, the first quarter of the season or so is their training camp. Disappointing, but an unfortunate reality. I think we will see significant improvement from all 3 in the next few weeks.
