Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Didn't Serena Williams miss more than a year of tennis due to issues from a pulmonary embolism?

Andy was bed ridden for months (at least weeks) IIRC. try not exercising for even 2 weeks and see how it feels to jump right back in. These guys were out for a LONG time and jump back into the highest form of competition there is

More than likely Varejao never recovers to his previous form. A pulmonary embolism is the real deal. It's not something he's going to shake off, and be perfectly fine.

If he can keep his current production, and doesn't taper off I think that's acceptable his first year back from such a serious condition. I certainly didn't expect anything. The fact he looks this bad, and is still putting up some decent stats just shows what a baller varejao really is.

In a chat today, Lloyd mentions that Andy is playing old and his trade value is low compared to last year. Lloyd believes the years of Andys' style of play may have caught up with him.

Ben Wallace started to decline rapidly at this same point in his career. Andy's style to me has always been more hustle/effort related than anything else (he has developed a nice jumper though).

Wallace's age 31 season was his last in Detroit and he was not what he was even the prior few years production wise. His age 32 season was the first in Chicago, and he was never close to what he was from there on.

Andy is in his age 31 season right now, so it is possible he could be starting a quick descent. His style of play was never one that anyone expected to age well, and when you look at some of the other guys who had the similar styles none of them aged particularly well that I can think of from where they were at their peak.

Andy might turn it around this season, but Llyod is probably right about his value in that I don't see any GM looking at him as even a medium term fix at this point given where he's at with his game.

He's still one of the best passing centers in the game, his midrange jumper has improved steadily, and once he gets his lower body strength back he'll be among the league's best rebounders again as well. He may not threaten to break into any all-star games, but those skills will ensure that he's (at least) a quality 3rd big for very long time health permitting.

He has steadily been getting better. If he stays healthy, he will be great. MB would be smart to get him more touches. The offense looked great running though him last year. I hope he and Dion continue to build chemistry.

Andy is one of the best backup PF/C in the league if you did a survey of the coaches he would be their dream bench player.

I completely disagree with Lloyd on this one. I think Andy has some typical Andy ball left in him. He didn't suddenly get old since last year...he hasn't even played much in the last year which is a big part of the problem. Like Bynum and Bennett, he came into camp not having played in a very long time and he wasn't in very good shape following his wedding festivities and spending a lot of time in Brazil. His weight is getting back down and the rust is coming off. I firmly believe Andy will hit his stride again soon and be the regular double-double energy guy we are used to seeing. This will help us win some more games and up his trade value again...hopefully he just doesn't get hurt.

For Andy, Bynum and Bennett, the first quarter of the season or so is their training camp. Disappointing, but an unfortunate reality. I think we will see significant improvement from all 3 in the next few weeks.

That didn't take long. :chuckles:

In the last 17 days we've had MON, TUES and WED off 3 straight times. That's some much needed practice and workout time...we are starting to see some dividends.

That was the first 18/13/3/3 night of Andy's career. He joins LeBron, Z, Kemp, Nance, and Hot Rod as the only Cavs to put up that line.

Cavs with 60 rebounds, and Varejao with 17. Cavs held the clippers to 30 percent shooting and Mike Brown messed his pants.

17 rebounds in 22 mins and totally annoying to all Clippers. Doc said Andy was the difference in the game. Classic Andy game last night...

I loved seeing that side of Andy again. Been a while since he's been that pest he used to be.

Talk about Andy from 12:34-13:12, disagree a bit on how good he's been, think he might be a good fit with the Clippers.

This was filmed before Cavs went 3 of 4. Cavs are gonna evolve every 10 to 15 games this season. so your gonna see these guys change their tune as the season progresses. Especially on AV.

Finally saw his altercation with blake.. Andy trolled so hard, loved it, truely veteran move. Like a euro kevin garnett
