so houston just gave $25M to a center in his mid 20s who, while a good (overrated) defender, is total aids on offnse. and houston is still a likely destination for another center who is older, more injury prone, and almost equally bad on offense? what?
he has been listed as a SF more thanthis season. he can clearly play 3 in any case
btw tyreke is falling off the charts, and varejao would look mighty good beside demarcus cousins
/end pipe dream
i think another situation we could get involved in is i okc decides to trade harden. The rockets are really high on him and can offer kmartin. lamb and torontos pick. We could than try and come in as the 3rd team and give them andy for torntos pick.
lol. seriously?Good teams have more than one viable big man. You left out the part where Houston went all out for Howard to pair with Asik.
lol. seriously?
going all in for dwight fucking howard is not at all relevant to pursuing anderson varejao. i mean....i have no idea whatsoever how you could legitimately bring that up wrt: varejao/houston.
Yes, but my point was all bets are off when Howard is the player in question. If you think he's attainable and there is a reasonable chance he stays, you go for it no matter who you just signed. Them targeting Howard still says absolutely nothing about their potential interest in AV.I think Keys was mainly observing that, despite their well-advertised interest in Howard, Houston brought in Asik, even though they are both centers and you can't play both together. Certainly, an Asik-Varejao pairing isn't exactly ideal either, but Houston has lots of other PF/C candidates who would pair better with Varejao, plus Houston could cobble together enough salary to match Varejao, though I am not even sure that's even necessary since I think Houston is under the cap by a fair amount, especially after having traded away K-Mart and Lamb (which cuts ~$2M from their cap number this year, per my calculations)....A potential trade with Houston is sort of overtaken by events though, given that Houston no longer has a first round pick in 2013 and due to the Stepien rule wouldn't be able to trade their 2014 pick. I don't know whether the Cavs have any interest in any of the young players on Houston's roster.
How does the Harden trade make a Varejao/OKC trade any more realistic? With this Harden trade, OKC becomes a realistic destination for Varejao. A bunch of draft picks along with Lamb and PJ3. A contender with assets is the perfect storm for an Andy trade.
why. why why why.I was just thinking what most of you are suggesting. The Harden trade opened a door for the Thunder to pursue Andy at the deadline. They have what the Cavs want in a deal, and I am pretty sure the Thunder have no interest in adding a rookie in next years draft with that Lottery pick (unless its top 5).
why. why why why.
why do they need yet another offensively-inept big. they did not trade serge ibaka, nick collison, nor kendrick perkins. they traded james harden.
