Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Asik for Andy would be a great move for both teams. Houston is in win-now mode and needs players who can contribute now and fit with Howard, and Andy fits both since he is more of a power forward and plays in the high post and can shoot from the elbows. If Asik is traded to us, Bynum will possibly be traded and/or cut. The ideal thing to do would be to trade Bynum to a team that needs a center and/or expiring contract and get at least something out of Bynum that way. Perhaps OKC would take Bynum and give us back Lamb?

I have no comment on the recent trade rumors, other than it's a good thing Anderson Varejao bobblehead night is next Friday.

In a perfect world that is correct, but by adding Asik it would mean that basically we would have to trade Bynum for nothing but expiring deals in order to keep our full max slot open for this summer. It complicates things alot as far as trade flexibility goes.

There is one large expiring that has been linked with Varejao in trade rumors for a while now - Pau Gasol. Would it make any sense for CLE, HOU, and LAL to swing a trade with the basic pieces looking something like..

AV, Jack, LAL Pick to HOU
Lin, Bynum to LAL
Asik, Gasol to CLE
?

No thanks...

They should do what is best for the team, and Asik is really good on a reasonable contract. Suddenly we have scoring problems in the frontcourt though because you assume Bynum would be gone as well. In that case, you really need Zeller, Bennett, and or Sims to develop. It's possible, but could definitely mess with the playoffs. Right now we have a really physical and defensive frontcourt that is punking a lot of good teams. As Andy and Bynum have gotten into shape, our bigs have been a nightmare for the opposition. It's been the really bright spot this year so far.

Yeah I thought about that. Say, for example, if we did trade Bynum for Lamb, we would also have to take back quite a bit in salary in order for the trade to work financially, and the chances of us getting back 10m in expirings is unlikely like you said.

Hmmmmm.

Man, fuck that.

Seriously, if all it takes to get Asik is Andy, sign me up. I wouldn't be able to sign the papers quick enough.

Asik complained about playing behind Howard. How different in his eyes would it be behind Bynum?

Bynum wouldnt be playing nearly the same amount of minutes as Dwight, who really knows how Asik would feel? Id assume CLE would be a lot better place for him even if it isnt perfect
