Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
All I know is when Bynum was in trade talks in L.A. he would quit playing hard. He was tired of always being in trade rumors, Maybe he heard about this before the last game and that's why he played so poorly. If the Cavs have him in trade discussions instead of letting him know he's not going anywhere, I'm afraid of how his game will suffer. He needs it to be let known that the Cavs want to build around him and then he will play his heart out. It's not a great attribute to always have, but that's who he is.

That's great and all, but if Bynum is a piece teams want in negotiations for a stud player, I'm including him. A trade to bring in another legitimate, proven yet still fairly young all-star player is still this front office's top priority. Bynum's resurgence thus far could be a key piece to that puzzle.

Bynum has shown he can play out of the high post , so he and Asik can play together. More than likely it would take more than varejao.

You can't be serious...

You can't be serious he is an elite level talent. Teams aren't exactly breaking down doors to get him.

But.....I also just realized my thoughts align with Sam The Bullshit Whisperer so...I might need to reconsider.

I guess we don't get 25..

Edit-he's up its a miracle!

I really hope Andy is ok. It took him a while to get back into his rhythm, but now he is he is back to doing all those things that wins games. Tonight he was a vacuum on the defensive glass, played excellent help defense on penetrating guards and frustrated Vucevich. Not to mention he has become almost automatic on that open mid range jumper.

Losing him would be devastating, especially when we just seem to be hitting our stride.

Do we have any reason to believe that was anything other than faking?

I mean it really looked to me like that was a total Euro-flop piss-ass move.

I really think it would be a mistake to trade Varejao, especially for Asik...

I've come to the conclusion Varejao means more to this team more so than ever and the saying of Varejao being more valuable to the Cavs to another team is more true now than ever..

Yes Asik could be a higher impact defender and has a better long-term outlook, but Varejao is much more important right now and means more to the Cavs development than Asik would..

I like Asik a lot but a few things to keep in mind: you can't play him at PF like you can with Varejao, he would clog the lane even more so than Varejao & TT do, and he's going to be looking to be paid handsomely again in a short bit of time...

Asik is an effective center but let's not get carried away: you can find Asik's... His skillset is valuable but the Clippers found DeAndre Jordan in the 2nd round, Steven Adams was drafted in the late lotto this year, Gortat has been available for trade the last few years, Larry Sanders was taken outside of the lotto, Tyson Chandler has been traded around for not too much and Robin Lopez this year has seen a resurgence after being acquired for pennies on the dollar...

This isn't a Asik vs. Varejao post but rather how much I think Varejao means to this team..

This team is in a critical stage of learning the system and following through with it... Varjeao is a key component of that, as he's been in this system before and can help guys out... He's also the lynchpin of the defense when he's in and is very much a backbone of this team... While this team doesn't have a lot of big voices, I'm sure he is the leader and everyone could agree he's the heart and soul of this team... Trading away a guy like that who you rely for on for so much more than simply on-court production is just not smart right now.. Not when the Cavs are just becoming settled and learning how to win... The Cavs need guys like Varejao around to help them through this process and could stand to add one at the SF spot..

I know this might be the last window to potentially trade Varejao and I realize his injuries have robbed him of playing recently but he simply means too much for this franchise... It would be good to see him finish his career here... He's certainly an asset that can fetch the Cavs something but they need his presence and are in a position where they have other assets to potentially help them acquire what they need..

I'm not against trading him for the right deal but Asik isn't the right deal...

The Cavs need Varejao now more than ever and I think it will become more apparent as he continues to back to his form we saw last year..

Totally agree Smooth, and I would add that we cannot add another big who can't shoot unless we get rid of Bynum and play Zeller or Sims. You would have to get a shooting 3 this year too. Howler showed plainly how bad the spacing can be with the 1st unit. Adding Asik to that would only make it worse.

Any update on the injury? Or are we thinking he milked it a little bit on the court and is okay?

according to Lloyd, Andy says he's fine and with some ice and rest he'll be ready for the game against the Heat.

They need to get Andy some serious knee-braces. Like for roller-bladers. AV will be like "oh, you want to bump knee with me? now you know how a shattered knee-cap feel like"

Seriously, he needs to guard those things, plays like the one with Victor Oladipo will happen again to him. Next time he might not be fortunate enough. Like AC said on the broadcast, Andy is lucky that his leg wasn't planted on the ground, or he could have a torn ACL or MCL. They need to beef up his knee pads so that if anyone runs into him, they'll be the ones getting hurt and not Andy.

I wonder if they have these in his size?
