Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This guy is a fucking difference maker even if he doesn't score a point. Would love to see what he could do with a good offensive big like Hawes for a whole season so he can concentrate on getting scraps, boarding, and defense. Plus paired with a natural C, he's doesn't have to worry about getting overpowered too much and his length and mobility really cause teams problems

Game-high +20 in 20 minutes off the bench tonight. Hawes is getting a lot of credit, and deservedly so, but while he was picking up the slack on offense Andy was picking up the slack on defense, and that's a big part of why we got the W.

Varejao's defense was instrumental in getting the cavs back in the game after surrendering 20 points in the first 6 minutes. The warriors fell apart when they went to the bench. Just not a deep team.

Andy is easily our best defensive big. Difference maker out there.

I hope Varejao is a lifetime Cavalier like Big Z. Please don't release him Gilbert unless he really wants to go. Varejao is my generations Big Z. One day his number 17 jersey will be retired.

Varejao doesn't look like he is in top shape right now, leading to some ugly plays he would normally make. Thatsaid, he knows and understands both ends of the floor far better than both Zeller and Thompson. That allows him to make extra passes and move to the right spots, which makes Deng more effective.

That lineup with Irving, Dion, Delly, Varejao, and Hawes needs more burn. I know that one reason it looked so good was Mark Jackson's insistence to go big without Klay... but that grouping did some damage.

Andy should always be playing in clutch time over Tristan. He really can fight to get those rebounds and will take a charge. The in bound play wasn't his fault. They showed the replay tonight and stupid Raptor had his arm completely around Deng holding him back. Refs refused to call the foul. My son was at the game tonight too close to floor seats and said it was so obvious.

I feel like Andy should have his own page on "Isitdownrightnow.com" or "downdetector.com"

Someone switch his status over to injured.

I mean I want to revist some of the contract numbers that were thrown out earlier. You can't give this dude 8 million a year over multiple years again. He's injured way too much. It's close to becoming added to one of the few guarantees in life. Death, taxes, and Varejao being injured.

He's not going to get 8 million again. He's the kind of guy I see playing out his career here on the Vet minimum or mini mid level after next season. I hope he stays, he's so valuable to this team.

I would want to keep andy around more for the leadership and knowledge he brings to the table. With the youth of our bigs I think it would pay off to have a guy like andy giving tips and pointers to the young guys. While I agree andy wont get his jersey retired based soley off stats and what have you, with his injury history you gotta wonder what coulda been had he stayed healthy. Would I like to see his jersey retired? Sure he is a cavs icon in my eyes at this point.
Anyone whos watched the cavs in his tenure have vivid images in their mind of that big mop flying all over the place.

All that being said, I wonder if it will be possible for us to bring him in as an assistant when his career is up.
Makes you wonder how many years he has left in him. His style of play doesnt lend itself to longevity.
