Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Even during the #6 years, he was my favorite.

I think it's time to trade/cut this guy (in the off-season). He's beaten up. He won't be around if/when we are good again.

Trade him and bring in talent or picks plus cap space? Perhaps.

But just releasing him and having 4 million of dead money against the cap is pointless unless it is the final step needed to create room to sign LeBron. Short of that, how are you going to get someone of Andy's skills and contributions for just the 5 million in cap space that not picking up his option creates?

We're far better with him on the team. he wasn't needed tonight, but against actual legit teams, he can make a difference. If for some reason we acquire better front court talent or have enough depth at the trading deadline, perhaps you see what a contract like his can help you acquire at the trade deadline next year. Otherwise, I see him finishing that contract out. Hopefully the front court talent level around him next year is such that he can just be used 20-24 mpg in a super sub role.

Varejao's susceptibility to injury has crushed my dreams of the devastating Varejao/Hawes front court. Instead we've been barely treading water with Hawes/Thompson. I can't believe Brown hasn't gone to it very much at all.

Can someone pull the record over the last 2 years of the Cavs record with and without Varejao in the lineup?

From the PD:

Anderson Varejao (sprained right AC joint) expected to join Cavs FRI in Atlanta. There's a chance he could play vs. Hawks, Mike Brown says.

So, what do we do with AV? Embiid basically eliminates his center duties. I think we go another direction. Is this the end for varejao in a cavalier uniform?

Embiid isn't on the roster yet. I think we keep Varejao and add other vets. We need leadership and mentors with all these young kids on the team. It is really important.

No, it doesn't mean Andy's duties are done. Embiid won't play 48 minutes a game. He can play PF, and it's pretty likely that one of Thompson/Bennett (likely Tristan) is out after next season. Andy will also be able to come back on a much more team friendly deal.

I think we need vets obviously and Anderson is well liked but he is not a true leader. I do not mean that to downgrade. He leads in example by energy but we need an alpha true leader. Andy will not net us that and I will not be mad if he's on the opening night roster, but I believe it is truly time to cash in on the value of his expiring non-guaranteed contract in a deal that brings talent(not picks) back in.

no more andy wig nights, the mop top is gone (he just posted this on twitter)
