extending Andy on a cheaper contract makes sense, regardless of whether we go after Lebron or not. 4yrs&16mio (with an option) or something like that. Andy would make less this year but make up for it over time...Udonis Haslem did the same thing with the Heat i think.

The new CBA prohibits that. You have to wait like a year and a half before that would even be possible.

It's not a team option. It's a partially guaranteed year. We can waive him and save $5.7 million or we can keep him and pay $9.7 million. I'm fine with keeping him. He played 65 games last year. If he can stay in that range while playing like he can, he's worth it.

Andy would have to be traded then waiver paid off by another team, then wait 30 days before he could re-sign with the iirc, if that is still even possible under the new CBA (since it's not a buyout of a full contract at the deadline, it's the 4$ mil partial guarantee, i'm not sure if it falls under the same area)
