Anderson Varejao

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Is the Pope Catholic?

The problem is the Cavs have already set a a bad precedent for retiring people's jerseys that don't deserve it. Did Bingo Smith really need his number retired?

Shouldn't Andy just be playing games in lieu for the next year to make up for all the time off he's had? I would hope a discounted rate over a longer term would b the sensible solution to keep him in wine and gold

Jao looks very sharp out there. Limiting his minutes this year will hopefully go a long way in helping him play more games at the same energetic pace we're used to.

How the fuck are we going to limit his minutes? He is our only center.

At this point I'm being hopeful we can pick up a decent back up big then split the minutes between TT, Jao, Love, perhaps Powell/Haywood and FA backup center X. The Cavs did limit his minutes for the second half of the season last year, granted we did have a solid big man rotation of Hawes, TZ, and Jao.

I agree. Hopefully he accepts Udonis Haslem type deals down the road.

Ive honestly never seen or heard anyone call him Jao.. is that a Brazil thing?

I've heard people use it before to address him or if he's the topic of conversation, so I assumed it was just short for Varejao.

Thinking about Andy hustling for the long offensive rebound and dishing to LeBron for the huge slam and chest pump is giving me sleepless nights of dazzling daydreaming and imaginative improvisation.

It's going to be a thing of beauty.

Sometimes I think we forget about Anderson (including myself.) He's a HUGE piece to a Championship team. When we were bad, we were always talking about trying to trade him to a contender, because he would be so much more valuable to a contender than a struggling team. I get he needs to stay healthy, and he's getting older (if you consider 31/32 old...), but when he plays the Cavs are SIGNIFICANTLY better. If he can stay healthy, the league is in major trouble with a line-up of Irving, Waiters, LeBron, Love, Varejao.

You have an All-Star MVP, a burgeoning player in Waiters who shows a lot of promise, a first ballot Hall of Famer, the best PF in the league, and a guy who averaged 14 points and 14 rebounds just two years ago (albeit before he was lost for the year.) I can't think of a better line-up top to bottom. As another poster previously pointed out, there will be games where we will have the better match-up at EVERY position on the court.

The main issue is his health. The last four years he has played 31, 25, 25, and 65 games. If he can build on last year, and stay healthy, our team will be very hard to stop.
