Andraez “Greedy” Williams: Round 2, Pick 46

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is interesting. This may also suggest that Press-Man Corners, like Greedy and Ward, will see an increase in value, as they are required to stop the short quick passes to the outsides.

Or you scheme that away with short zones, and safeties filtering into the routes that go down the field

I cannot say for certain, but teams aren't doubling Edge's much anymore.

They are scheming quick passing games to negate edge rushers. If the ball gets out, on average, 2 seconds, Edge Rushers cannot get there in time.

It's why I think we'll start seeing emphasis on corners and interior pass rushers very soon, and why I think the NFL is dumb for not drafting Q Williams and Oliver higher.

This is why Q Williams was my favorite player in the draft.

Also, extreme pass rushers like Myles and other 4.4 guys will always have value because the push that 2 seconds

One thing about Greedy based upon production in 2 years and athletic ability, is maybe half the teams in the NFL have a corner as good as Greedy......We now have 1 as good as Greedy, and 1 better than Greedy.

He really is first half of the 1st worthy. If he dropped because he sat out his meaningless bowl game, then this league is full of idiot GM's.

I'm not ready to anoint Greedy a top-15 CB before he even sees the field. Can he get there? Sure. But there are a ton of really good corners in the league right now. While I don't agree with them, here are the 11 CB's that PFF had ranked ahead of Denzel Ward last year.
  • Stephon Gilmore
  • Desmond King
  • Chris Harris
  • Kareem Jackson
  • Byron Jones
  • Jason McCourty
  • Kyle Fuller
  • Patrick Peterson
  • Bryce Callahan
  • Johnathan Joseph
  • Prince Amukamara
Then you have to throw in Ward, Marhson Lattimore, Tre'Davious White, Steven Nelson, Marlon Humphrey, Jalen Ramsey, AJ Bouye, Xavien Howard, Casey Hayward, Trumaine Johnson, Darius Slay, Jaire Alexander, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters... there are so many talented corners right now and I know I'm forgetting a bunch.

Do we have the potential to have the best CB situation in the league? Well... maaaybe... it's going to be hard to surpass Jacksonville having Ramsey and Bouye. But we definitely have the potential to have two of the better man-coverage corners in the league. I was already excited to see what this defense could do under Wilks instead of Gregg Williams. If Greedy turns out to be another lockdown man corner? Man is it going to be fun to watch Garrett, Vernon, Ogunjobi, Richardson and Avery get after opposing QB's.

With regards to Greedy's off the field things, here are what's rumored. Let me know if I missed one:
  1. Skipping bowl games (I don't care)
  2. Not tackling (Kinda care--but if his reasoning is that he's saving his body for the pros where he'll get paid, I can't fault him)
  3. Skipping coach interviews at the combine (I fault him for this--not only do I not like it, but he's actively costing himself and his family money by hurting his draft stock)
  4. The rumor of him hiding an injury (Not going to put any credit into this until it's confirmed)

Hot take. But I’d rather have my DB not tackle and avoid injury rather than going all out on tackles and getting hurt like ward did.

Didn't know he skipped coaches interviews, yeah that's not good. That is by far the biggest offense on this list as players hide injuries all the time to try and keep playing....but skipping meetings...yeesh, time to grow up, hopefully our fellow Tigers can kick his ass some and teach him how to be a pro.

I trust Dorsey enough to believe that the scouts and Dorsey knew anything and everything about Greedy before drafting him #46. He may need some guidance from the vets on the team, but very few rookies don't.

i feel like 1 combined with 3 pretty much explain why he slipped so much. You have a guy that you are already questioning his commitment to the game, and then he doesnt show up for interviews with coaches.

I feel like from a talent stand point point the browns got a huge steal, however its clear the guy has some issues.

With no issues, he is a top 15 pick, and isn’t a brown. I am thankful there was enough doubt. Excellent value - now he needs to get to work.

Some of the best DB's in the league barely average over 2 tackles a game. It's an overrated stat for that position.

Ward just happens to be a DB who is also an excellent tackler.

He is. But it’s at the expense of getting hurt.
