Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Random question,
Would it have been possible to keep Wiggins and Bennet, resign Deng and Hawes and next season get rid of Deng and Hawes to sign a big contract FA like Gasol/Love ?
No. The Bird rights to Deng and Hawes had to be renounced to free up the cap space to sign LBJ. Had the Cavaliers said 'thanks, but no thanks LBJ', then yes.

Pretty predictably, Wiggins has, cumulatively, not been very good. I mean, at all. Will he be a star in a few years? I just think the odds are really against it. Bennett has been pretty good, but he isn't playing very much. Both would be much better off if Rubio were healthy. I remember in summer league how Wiggins and Bennett both looked lost when Delly didn't play.

The Cavs made the right move in trading Wiggins and Bennett, and that's the case even if Wiggins does somehow become a star at some point down the road. Can you imagine LeBron's frustration if they hadn't done that deal? You get LeBron and you have a chance to get an established star like Love, that's an absolute no-brainer.

That said, I'd also have made that deal if I were Minny, though I might have told the Cavs to draft Parker over Wiggins. As it stands, Minny does have some young talent, but I remain skeptical how good some of these young players will ever be. I think I'd start trying to trade away some of the vets who are clogging the roster.

Rook took flight tonight on this alley from our man Mo:

I wouldn't consider Kawhi Leonard a star, but he just took home finals MVP. If they had won the year before, you could make a case that he deserved finals MVP the year before too.

Paul George is closer to T-Mac than Wiggins. I picture Wiggins' ultimate impact playing the same role Leonard did. Supposedly Wiggins is poor at finishing though? He can't be worse than Dion, who is the worst finisher with athleticism I have ever seen.

The sportscenter anchor just said that we will regret trading Wiggins soon :chuckle:

Not sure how any sane person could say that. In order for us to regret trading him he would have to be on the level of anthony davis lebron james or michael jordon. We got an all star back who is young and meshes with our 2 superstars. I dont think we have seen his best yet this season either. Wiggins may be more than a guy but I dont see someone who is going to dominate this league for years to come.

Only if you'd rather have that than LeBron.

I think we should start a Jabari Parker thread based on how he played tonight.

I've been convinced that he was the Cavs' pick if they didn't have a wink wink lined up with Minnesota. Made way too much sense.

Parker is going to be very good. The Bucks have a player who is massive (was like 255 pounds in the summer) and has a good stroke. The odd thing is Jabarai has nights where he is on fire, yet the offense sometimes goes away from him after his early explosions. While Parker is not as athletic is Wiggins, Parker still gets the job done and is a much heavier guy at the same time. I love Parker's game.

Jabari will be the best player in this draft class, IMO.

Reminds me a lot of Carmelo, but he's got a higher BBIQ in terms of the team game than Melo does. Really like what I see from him. Wiggins is a flashy and athletic freak, but I don't see him being more than a 20 PPG 43% from the field type of player. A nice complimentary piece to an already good team, but he's not going to be THE guy. I do think Jabari will be THE guy and Milwaukee has a nice young team right now.

Give me wiggins over Parker any day twice on Sunday

Reminds me of Paul Pierce.

Just watched the last 5 minutes of the minny game-Wiggins was out there but didnt touch the ball maybe not a bust but he will not be a superstar.

Awful losing to the 76ers. Wiggins 11 points on 12 shots and Bennett 0 points in just 4 minutes. Wiggins is a lot like what we saw in Kansas: glimpses of awesome potential but trouble translating that in a way that would be expected from a future superstar.
