Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
According to FiveThirtyEight, compared against other 19-year-old rookies who played at least 24 mins per game, Wiggins is "among the least effective."

either you didnt read the article or left out a bunch of detail intentionally.

there have only been 15 such players ever, and only 1 of them was a bust (D Wagner)

the list is full of all stars, so wiggins is in very good company even if he is the least efficient of them

Wiggins is rolling last 5 games

27p-9r 11-22 ( 1-4 3s) 4-5FT
21p-5r 10-19 ( 1-2 3s) 0-0FT
10p-1r- 3-6(0-2 3s) 4-8FT24min
22p-5r. 8-18 (1-3 3s) 5-8FT
27p-2r. 9-16 (3-3 3s) 6-8FT

That's 21.4ppg shooting .506% 6/14 from 3 (42%) and from 2 (52%). This is all with LaVine playing pg and no other threat out there unless you count Young.

Offensively he is actually way ahead of where I thought he would be.

He started slow, but is really starting to come on. He's going to be a stud far sooner than later if he keeps improving at the rate he has been.

Andrew Wiggins started out very hot and cooled off later in the game. Some of his misses were bad but his makes were great and he shot a good percentage. During this game, Wiggins was double-teamed some and the Kings made an effort to try to keep him from catching the ball. His post up game is looking great and it reminds me of bigger guards such as Brandon Roy or Penny Hardaway. People knew about Andrew Wiggins being good at dunking and hitting the occasional jumper. But the post up game is very good and very surprising. There were times in the game the Wolves looked to run the offense through Wiggins as the #1 option and he obliged.

Instead of Wiggins being 2-3 years from contributing, you can see right now that he contributes. He is a player that catches your eye immediately, even as a rookie.

Wow. This kid is amazing.

He's still looking like a young Paul George, although seems to be developing faster than Paul did, being force fed minutes is really helping that. He still struggles to initiate offense and that playmaking aspect may never really be there, but he's going to be a prime time 2 way player

Honestly, I think Paul George is his floor now.

Agreed he is already getting to the line at a great rate for a rookie that will get better when he improves his handles and gets respect from refs. Superstars get to the line and wiggins is already doing that. Shooting 40% from 3 even if it's 1.9 attempts shows he can shoot. Also that post up game man! He is posting up Gay/Lebron when he puts on weight he will be a monster down there

I wanted this guy so badly in the draft and we get him to just trade him away for ryan anderson 2.0.

Why

Definitely tough to watch the highlights/see the recent stat lines and not wonder what could have been, but it should definitely be noted that his quick development is in large part a result of force fed minutes and a lack of surrounding talent that has given him room to operate as well as confidence--two things that would have been missing for who knows how long in Cleveland. The right situation is paramount to a young player developing, especially one that has had as much attention and pressure on him as Wiggins.

Given Blatt's struggles to implement a consistent offensive system as well as our shooting guard (whoever it is) generally seeming a bit out of place on the floor at times between Kyrie and LeBron, there's no telling how long it would have taken Wiggins to develop here, and whether he would reach the same heights as he will on a young redeveloping team.

Wiggins post game has been surprisingly effective for a skinny guy. Though you have to wonder if after a few months of this teams will have scouting reports on how to defend him there.

The Cavs game seems to have ignited Wiggins season.

In the 6 games since then (including the Cavs game) he's averaging 21.6 a game on 51% shooting from the floor and 41% from 3.

He's been over 20 in 5 of those 6 games.

I am amazed at how rapidly his game is progressing. The kid is the real deal.
