Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

The kid got to the line 20 times last night. He must be able to handle enough to get hacked up that many times.
Wait until the regular season when Irving,James and Miller are on the court with him. The lane won't be so packed because of the 3point shooters
the cavs will put on the court. Then you will see Wiggins really tear it up.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

But hey, a lot of Wiggins supporter thinks he can be TMac or Jordan.

Handles, passing, vision be damned.

I think he will end up averaging 23 PPG, 6-7 RPG, 2-3 APG, 2 SPG, 1.5 BPG, 40% 3PT% (I expect his long ball to become deadly in a few years, especially playing with Lebron and Kyrie where he will be open many times).

T-Mac by the way is one of the most overrated players in the history of basketball and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Jordan. Wiggins has every opportunity to be as good as or even better than T-Mac (who is at best a top 50 player of all time, certainly achievable by Wiggins).

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

I don't understand what you are watching, but his ball handling isn't close to average. It is among the worst in the league. And it's not that big of a deal because of the role he would play here with Kyrie and LeBron. He wouldn't be asked to create anything, just dunk lobs and spot up. That and his defense would make him a valuable player here.

That isn't the reason for the debate. The debate is if we should pass on a top 5 player in the league because we have a guy that can dunk lobs, spot up (he hasn't shown he is ready to do this yet either), and play defense.

His handle and vision is so limited that the chances he is ever a top 5 player in the league is infinitesimal. You just don't develop those things very much at the NBA level when you have been playing ball your whole life. He can get better, but not nearly enough to be Kevin Durant or on that level. He can be a valuable player like a Kawhi Leonard, better even. I don't pass up on Love for the hope that is what he becomes.

I will prove you wrong about his handles later in the season, assuming he is still with us. Furthermore his driving skills, mid-range game and ability to create his own shot are already advance, far better than Kwahi's and Paul Georges at this stage in their career. You don't get 20 FTAs in a game without great driving ability. He has a good chance of being a top 5 player in the league, especially if he stays with us.

Exactly, players that can't handle or create their own shots don't get to the line that many times, not even close. Guys with terrible handles and driving ability don't get to even get to the line 3 times in a game unless they have a dominate post game like Shaq for instance (which Wiggins obviously doesn't). High free throw attempts (the other games he had a lot of FTAs as well) is a clear sign of a dynamic scorer with the ball in his hands. If he does get traded to Minnesota, where he will be expected to create his own offense, it will just show how wrong these people are saying he has no offensive game with the ball in his hands.

I'll say it again. Wiggins handle is not nearly as poor as Love's defense. That bears repeating. His handles are also not nearly as concerning as Love's frequent injuries.

His handles can be improved, but it has not been a problem. For him, handles are not nearly as important since with his freakishly long strides and elite quickness, he can just stride with the ball without dribbling from the foul line.

Those overlooking his vast skillset to focus on his handles (for a forward) is just ridiculous and in my opinion demonstrates not so much a scouting report, but an agenda.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

He does need a bit of work on his handles, but damn I just really like the kid! Just plays hard and takes whats there. This team would actually be perfect for him to not have to start and be forced to be the main guy. Instead, he can come off the bench to spell Lebron or Dion and play defense. With Kyrie, Lebron and Dion, also Mike Miller, Wiggins, Bennett off the bench I don't feel scoring will be on issue and defensively we would be solid, so don't understand why the desperation for K.Love...

This is not a widespread phenomenon

Now that the dust of TMac's career has settled, I don't think he is/was very overrated. He was a poor man's, injury prone Kobe.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

Summer league does not predict how he will play regular season. We had players who looked like world beaters on lakers summer league and turned into scrubs when they started playing real games ...

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

The kid just drools with his ability. It isn't in 1 or 2 areas, but the whole package. You don't trade that.

"drools" ?

A player with those stats would have a PER around 27....I doubt Wiggins ever gets there.

Many in the "desperate for Love" group are also in the group that are ticked we took Wiggins instead of Parker at #1. Hence the ad nauseam debate about the kid's "handles". His "handles" are fine for a 19 year old for where he is at in his development as a basketball player and will only get better.

He didn't have a problem with his "handles" on that beautiful spin move and dunk a few days ago. His "handles" are the least of my worries right now. It is his mental game that I'm interested in seeing him develop. How does he process and attack the professional game. That is where the biggest jump between college and pros needs to happen for a young player to be successful. The rest will come.

KLove is a luxury for this team. Not a necessity. With the young and developing group talent we have, we can win championships without him ...and for a long while into the future.

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

We've got LeBron, Kyrie and Dion to handle the ball, so what's the problem? Just point this kid in the direction of the hoop and one of our ball-handlers will get it to him.

There is no problem. That would work fine. We might just want to consider trading a guy who needs to be pointed to the direction of the hoop for a top 5 player in the NBA.

Top 5 offensive player, top 5 overall? No way

Re: #1: Andrew Wiggins - G/F - Kansas University

Top 5 players play defense, just because Wiggins might be traded doesn't mean we have to tear him down. Tired of the hyperbole.
