Andrew Wiggins

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
So it comes out AFTER it's been all but confirmed he's trade that he'd rather play in Minnesota. Seems legit Wiggins.

thing is we are all going off reports from the media and nothing is official. We don't know how true it is. What if he wasn't even apart of the trade from the get go and he said such a thing? The team would treat him like crap.

Lots of posters have been downplaying / mocking / trashing Wiggins since the news that he was put on the table in some degree or another. There is a narrative among many that Wiggins won't pan out. It's absurd IMHO, but whatever.

Yeah, even in S34...it was getting to pathetic levels.

That is how it works. A player is great until he is off the team, then he is a "scrub".

Pre-lotto: We're picking 9th. Pre-daft: I want Embiid. Draft: I want Wiggins/Parker. Post-draft: Don't trade Wiggins. 8/10/14: Fuck Wiggins. :spin:

I wonder if I missed anything on this timeline.

Looks exactly right to me...

Hmmm...I'm not a fan of these narratives in which a wide range of posters and beliefs are collapsed into a single point of view so that some kind of "common sense" counterpoint can be made.

Wiggins for example: some loved him from the get-go, some have never been impressed, some have views that have authentically evolved, positively and negatively. But now all the divergent views are collapsed into One Mythical Poster so that some have a straw man to fight against.

The easiest and cheapest way to "win" a debate is to create a fake consensus that never existed then knock it down. Color me unimpressed.

Yep. Edit: Actually, for me it was more like. Pre-draft: I want Embiid. Draft: I want Embiid. If they're too scared, trade the pick. Post-draft: Ehh. Whatever. Teach him how to shoot and play him at the 3. Post-LBJ: Trade Wiggins. 8/10/14: Fuck having this debate anymore.

I didn't take that into account. It wasn't my intention to make a false consensus, just to poke fun and maybe add perspective to the conversation. Not everyone follows the timeline I made pertaining to Wiggins and how they felt about him. I was the one that needed the perspective on the situation, so thank you.

“I would love to be at that first game they play against Cleveland,” Kansas assistant Kurtis Townsend said. “He’s going to put on a show.’’

Good luck with LeBron guarding you. It will be more like a Lesson. Lesson's he will never learn on a daily basis from LeBron now being in Minnesota.

Lebron won't even let him dribble

and no im not a hater, i have pictures of me as a baby decked out in Jayhawk gear, but im just sayin' Lebron will give him a "welcome to the big leagues" type of game

Have you not been following this story recently or something?

Gonna put on a show? Yeahhhh, no. How is he going to put on a show against the premiere defensive wing in the league, without the ability to dribble the basketball at all, and with an average jump shot?

I can honestly say that Wiggins as our opponent does not scare me at all. Not now, and not for the foreseeable future. Waiters as an opponent, on the other hand, would have the potential to scare me.

Still pretty crazy that we drafted this kid and traded him.

Regardless of your perspective on his ability, if you were told 4 months ago we would draft Wiggins and trade him, you wouldn't have even considered the possibility. I know I wouldn't.

I think I've seen the term "straw man" referenced more times in this thread than I have ever before.
