Annual RCF Rate My Team/Who to Play Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
In the 10 teamer there wasn't a single early round pick that didn't make any sense. One could argue Megatron at #3 was a bit of a leap but the reality is that if you want him you have to get him in the first, regardless of where you pick.

I've been sticking with the RB/RB/WR/WR/QB route for years now and it almost always guarantees playoffs. In the 14 teamer I had to go WR/RB/WR/QB and I feel like it fucked me up.

I altered my strategies quite a bit this year and I think I ended up with much better teams as a result. One of my issues in years past is that I was always susceptible to "group think," wherein if a bunch of people starting drafting QBs I would grab one too. Same with defense and kickers. I dropped that mentality this year and just did what I planned on going into the drafts, which was to not really worry about defenses and kickers at all and not to address QB until I had my starting RBs and WRs. If I had played it like I normally do, I would have grabbed a QB in the second/third of my snake draft after so many went before I selected and I think my team would have been much worse as a result.

Obviously auctions are a bit of a wild card, and my first auction team this year isn't as good as my second one primarily because I went into the second one with a more aggressive attitude as a result of my perceived failings in the first one. I still think the first one is a good team, but I left some money on the board that could have gotten me another elite player because I was too conservative early. Of course, the counter to that is that my depth suffered a bit in the second one, but as I've learned in past auctions it's better to have several elite players and a mediocre bench than it is to just be good across the board. The latter always ends up losing games to the former when you really need a win. I'd rather roll the dice on Megatron, Charles, and Julio winning me a few weeks by themselves than hoping a bunch of 10-20 RBs all play solid all year. Now I can just sit back and wait for injuries to derail my season. :chuckle:

Thankfully, the good auction was the $100 buy-in.

So somebody in my league just dropped lavean bell for Justin forcet. Forcet is 3rd string for Baltimore. Pierce will carry the load with rice out. So I just claimed bell of waivers. My backs are as follows

McCoy
Forte
Eddie lacy
Zach Stacy
Laveon bell

I think I should wreck this league

I have a solid group of receivers in one of my leagues but I can't decide on who to start week 1.

Andre Johnson
Antonio Brown
Anquan Boldin
Torrey Smith
Brandin Cooks
Rod Streater (sleeper pick of my draft)

Help me pick out my starting 3. (My starting QB/RBs are Foles, Lacy, Forte - Yahoo League)

I'd go Johnson, Brown, Cooks. I think Cooks is going to be excellent in New Orleans.

Week one? I'd probably go Johnson, Brown, and Smith. I personally think Smith is going to have a really good year. I like Cooks a lot too and targeted him in all my drafts (although I didn't get him in any of them), but I'm always hesitant to start rookies in week one, especially WR rooks. I'd give him a few weeks and see how he does before tossing him into your starting line-up, especially since you have other solid options.

Also, how in the fuck did you get Lacy and Forte? Is this a six man league or an auction or something? Or is everyone else inept?

That's my problem too, with Cooks. I have Cobb, Crabtree and Mike Wallace starting right now, and Cooks on my bench. Wallace might be covered by Revis and Crabtree "hurt" his leg again yesterday. Will have to monitor his status.

I'm leaning towards Johnson, Brown, and Cooks right now. I just see him having a big week one.

:chuckles: there are 8 teams in my league and I had the 6th pick, and 11th pick (3rd pick of the 2nd round). I took Lacy 6th (decided between him and Forte) then all the other teams targeted receivers or QBs before my next pick which dropped Forte right into my hands.

I couldn't pass up that opportunity even though I now have to rely in Foles/Newton as by QB options.

I mean, I never target a QB until later in the draft unless one of the Peyton/Rodgers/Brees trio falls to me in the second (which never happens). The drop-off in quality of running backs is much steeper than the QB quality drop off. Outside of those three tier one guys, everyone from 4-15 is pretty interchangeable. Certainly not enough of a difference to grab one in the first or second round when there are RBs and WRs available.

Hey guys my team is stacked at running back. The only problem is we only start 2 and there is no flex. Should I make a big trade for a big time receiver or wait it out a couple of all weeks. My roster is as follows:

Matthew Stafford
Matt Forte
Lesean Mccoy
Coradelle Patterson
Torrey Smith
Gronk
Janikowski
Arizona defense

Bench:
Zach Stacy
Eddie lacy
Mike Wallace
Roddy white
Zach ertz

I know I'm shitty at receiver that's why I'm willing to deal for a top 10 wide out.
