Annual RCF Rate My Team/Who to Play Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I pulled Ellington from my lineup for Bernard Pierce... I'm now 100% sure Ellington will outscore that loser.

Didn't Pierce have negative points? Not exactly a high bar.

Although I think Ellington is negative right now too. :chuckle:

Was down 14 in my big money league and had Stafford who just went absolute Buster from Arrested Development tonight. Ended up wining by like 16.

I went early on QB this year (took Stafford 5th rd, usually go around 7-8) so hopefully this pays off. He won't go this crazy every week but he just has so many weapons.

This will become more and more of a trend as the pass happy offenses continue to take over. Likewise, in my mind number 1 WRs are worth just as much as a number 1 RB is. Calvin Johnson should have been a top 3 pick this season and very well could be the first pick next season in a lot of leagues.

I think the real issue isn't that WRs are worth less, but rather than the RB position is just not as deep. There are more great receivers than great backs, which puts great RBs at a premium in the early rounds.

I agree.

I mean with a WR, one play and they can outscore a RB that has a great day. For example, Forte got me ~16pts for getting 80yds receiving and rushing. Played hard all game just couldn't find the endzone. I am happy with 16pts out of my 1st pick. Calvin Johnson had ~13pts on one play b/c their secondary made a mistake. It is just the consistency of the RB and the inconsistency of the WR position that makes it hard to take WR/WR/WR (starting off your draft with 3 great WR's)

Yeah, and the inconsistency of mid-tier backs makes getting at least one elite back a necessity. You can find pretty consistent WRs in the fourth, fifth, and later rounds of most drafts. I was able to get Welker (due to his concussion issue...this was before he got suspended), Patterson, and Hopkins later in a twelve team snake draft, and all three of those guys project to be solid contributors each game. You can't say the same of most RBs picked in the mid rounds.

Well, I am standing at 1-2 in my three leagues after one week of play. Thankfully, the win was in my $100 buy-in league, and it was a dominating 42 point win in a week when Jamaal Charles, my second most expensive player, only scored six points. I think that Ray Rice's Punch-Out (new name) is going places in that league.

Hey guys. My team is stacked at running back and I need a big time receiver. I put a claim in for Josh Gordon. The backs I have are mccoy forte stacy lacy bell Murray and my tight end is gronk. Here's the trade

Matt forte and Vernon Davis for dez Bryant.

WR's Alshon Jeffery, TY Hilton, DeAndre Hopkins, Rueben Randle

TE's Jordan Reed, Garrett Graham

RB's are solid between Lynch, Ball, Moreno, MJD, and Starks.

Should I gamble on Hurns or cover TE with Dwyane Allen or Niles Paul (Reed's backup)?

You shouldn't be the one throwing in extras in that trade. Forte was drafted at least a round higher than Dez in every single league in existence. No reason to waste Vernon Davis in that deal, especially since Gronk is always hurt and you'll probably need him as a backup later in the year.

Question for you all...

Okay, so in my twelve-team, non-PPR league, I am first in waiver priority. Obviously, I would like to use this opportunity to upgrade my bench depth. Here is my roster so you don't have to look it up:

QB Nick Foles
RB LeSean McCoy
RB Toby Gerhart
WR Julio Jones
WR Dez Bryant
WR Cordarrelle Patterson
TE Charles Clay

BN Wes Welker
BN DeAndre Hopkins
BN Steven Jackson
BN Pierre Thomas
BN Fred Jackson
BN Jordan Reed
BN Josh Gordon

It goes without saying that I need to upgrade my RB depth. Fred Jackson seems like a solid back-up with fantasy upside (as Spiller appears to still suck), so I'm going to hold on to him. I'm totally willing to drop Jordan Reed, Steven Jackson, or Pierre Thomas to upgrade at the RB. I'm also awful at TE, but the pickings on the waiver wire are so thin there that it's probably not even worth it. I'll probably just cross my fingers that Josh Gordon gets his suspension overturned and then try to flip one of my other WRs for a good TE.

Best available RBs:
Justin Forsett
Terrence West
Shonn Greene
DeAngelo Williams
Danny Woodhead

Thoughts on who I should grab first from that group?

I am trying to pick up Forsett in my one league, but its still not 100% who's going to be playing the most, and it is most likely going to be a share/who's hot at the moment.

I think West is going to get a good look with Tate's problems and his good rushing game last week.

It's tough. If Forsett can come out and do good again on Thursday, he could be the almost every down back.

Yeah, that's my issue. It absolutely could be a "one hit wonder" type of performance, but I did think it was telling that Forsett got the carries over Pierce despite Pierce being the assumed back-up. That tells me that Forsett has probably looked better in practice. Given that he brought it against a very good defense, I'm hopeful that he continues to get the most snaps.

But that's the crux of my problem here. West looked really good, but will the Browns make Tate the starter again when he's back? Forsett looked great, but can he sustain that type of performance long-term? There is also Greene, Woodhead, and Williams on the waiver wire to be had if I really want them.

So who do I pick first? I'm leaning toward Forsett. I'll probably try to grab both him and West, though, dropping Steven Jackson and Pierre Thomas.

You are THAT down on Thomas/Jackson? I feel like they will have very capable back-up RB numbers, maybe even a bit more for Jackson.

With already having McCoy and a set of pretty nice WR's, I would maybe try and package a WR/RB for a RB to replace Toby. Gordon will be back, so will Welker (concussion prone.....1 more he may have to sit)

I don't think the route you should be going is waiver wire, I would go trade route @Jack Brickman

I wouldn't say that I'm down on either, really. I just don't think they move the needle much. Thomas would be a better option in a PPR league, but Ingram and Robinson are going to get the goal line and power running work for the Saints. Steven Jackson, on the other hand, is just kind of meh. I grabbed him because there wasn't really anyone else left at the time, and as of now it seems like Rodgers will be doing most of the heavy lifting for Atlanta. If I can drop him in favor of a guy who might legitimately become a RB1, I'd prefer to do that.

And I agree trading is a route that I should (and will) explore, but I want to see what happens with the Gordon suspension first. In this league there is no flex and you start three WRs, so until Gordon is officially back I'm hesitant to trade any of my other five receivers. I'm fairly confident Gordon will be reinstated, but I am unwilling to jump the gun and deal away someone until he is.

Plus, I have waiver wire priority. Might as well take a shot at someone.
